My Thoughts on Push Me Away When I Come, Don’t Hold Me Back When I Leave
"Push Me Away When I Come, Don’t Hold Me Back When I Leave"… what a title! It definitely grabbed my attention, and the premise seemed intriguing enough to dive in. Having spent some time with this novel, I've got a few thoughts I wanted to share.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a second chance and the whole time travel/transmigration element. The idea of a female protagonist navigating school life with a twist of unrequited love and yuri undertones sounded like a fun, albeit potentially angsty, ride. The multiple points of view also hinted at a complex and layered narrative, which I always appreciate.
What Works Well
The author definitely knows how to create a beautiful female lead. I found myself invested in her journey, even when the plot took some unexpected turns. The drama is definitely present, and if you're a fan of emotional rollercoasters, this might be right up your alley. The school life setting feels authentic, providing a familiar backdrop for the more fantastical elements of the story. I also appreciated the hints of romance and the exploration of relationships, even if they weren't always straightforward.
Areas of Concern
While the premise is interesting, I did find myself occasionally struggling with the pacing. There were moments where I felt like the story was dragging, or that certain plot points weren't fully explored. It’s possible that this is due to the ongoing status of the novel, and perhaps these areas will be fleshed out in future chapters. It's also worth mentioning that the harem tag might not be for everyone, so if that's a genre you typically avoid, proceed with caution. Some readers might find the unrequited love aspect frustrating, depending on their personal preferences.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Push Me Away When I Come, Don’t Hold Me Back When I Leave" is a mixed bag. It has moments of brilliance, particularly in its character development and exploration of emotional themes. However, it also has its flaws, mainly in terms of pacing and potentially divisive genre elements. If you're looking for a drama-filled story with a unique premise and are willing to overlook some minor issues, it might be worth checking out. However, keep your expectations in check and be prepared for a potentially bumpy ride. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars.
