My Thoughts on Intoxicated (Seven)
"Intoxicated (Seven)" promised a sweet escape, and for the most part, it delivered. This novel is a delightful dive into a fluffy, low-conflict romance between two genuinely kind characters. It’s the kind of story you pick up when you need a guaranteed mood boost.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise – the fake boyfriend scenario seemed ripe for comedic potential. While the humor is definitely present, I quickly realized this story is more about the genuine connection between Lu Ze and Liang Xiao than any over-the-top antics. The focus shifted from the "perfect boyfriend" act to the real, developing friendship, which I found to be a pleasant surprise.
What Works Well
The heart of this novel lies in its characters and their relationship. Lu Ze and Liang Xiao are incredibly likeable, and their romance feels remarkably natural. I appreciated that there wasn't a rigid top/bottom dynamic; instead, they support and care for each other equally. Their interactions are sweet, often silly, and undeniably heartwarming. The side characters, especially the MC's best friend and roommates, add to the wholesome atmosphere. The author did a great job of creating a world where everyone accepts and supports their relationship, which I found refreshing and comforting. The story moves quickly, with the main couple getting together relatively early, allowing ample time to explore their relationship and daily life.
Areas of Concern
While the fluff and sweetness are definitely a selling point, I can see how it might not appeal to everyone. Some might find the lack of significant conflict or a complex plot a bit monotonous, especially in the latter half of the story. If you're looking for a dramatic, action-packed narrative, this isn't it. The story is a slice-of-life romance, plain and simple.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
The couple gets together around chapter 40. From that point on, it's mostly fluff and sweetness. If you're not into that, proceed with caution!
Final Verdict
Overall, I found "Intoxicated (Seven)" to be a charming and enjoyable read. If you're in the mood for a lighthearted, low-angst romance with plenty of fluff and a healthy relationship dynamic, this novel is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a sugar rush! I'd recommend it to anyone seeking a feel-good story that will leave them with a smile.
