My Thoughts on I Became Cinderella’s Vicious Stepsister
"I Became Cinderella’s Vicious Stepsister" is a wild ride, and I mean wild. I dove in expecting a typical transmigration story, but what I got was so much more… complicated. This novel isn't afraid to embrace the "vicious" part of the title, and that's what makes it so compelling.
First Impressions
From the start, I was hooked by the premise. A protagonist who isn't just accidentally evil, but actively scheming to survive? Yes, please! The Cinderella twist adds a layer of intrigue that I hadn't seen before in this genre. It's clear from the get-go that this isn't your average fairy tale retelling.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel is Belia, the MC. She's selfish, cunning, and sometimes downright evil, and I loved every minute of it. She's not some innocent damsel trapped in a villain's body; she becomes a villain in her own right. This anti-heroic approach is refreshing, and the author does a great job of making her both compelling and detestable. I found myself constantly rooting for her, even when she was making questionable choices. The slow-burn romance with the God of Light is another highlight. It's angsty, complicated, and full of power dynamics that kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot is well-crafted and full of twists and turns. I particularly enjoyed how the story explores themes of faith, freedom, and the struggle for survival in a world that seems determined to crush you.
Areas of Concern
The ML can be frustrating at times. His aloofness and seeming indifference towards Belia can be hard to stomach, especially when it leads to her suffering. Also, some readers may find the religious themes and the MC's blasphemous actions to be off-putting. It's definitely a novel that pushes boundaries.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may have a hard time with the ML's actions, especially regarding his treatment of Belia. I advise caution proceeding forward if you are sensitive to these topics.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "I Became Cinderella’s Vicious Stepsister" is a truly memorable read. It's a dark, twisted, and ultimately satisfying story about a woman who refuses to be a victim. If you're looking for a novel with a strong female lead, a complex romance, and a plot that will keep you guessing, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride!
