My Thoughts on Cat A is also an Alpha!
"Cat A is also an Alpha!" is a completed story that blends adult themes with comedy, fantasy, romance, and a large helping of slice-of-life goodness. I went into it expecting a wild ride, and what I found was… well, a bit different.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing: a female protagonist with amnesia who's supposedly an alpha in an ABO world, and a merman who needs healing. I was immediately curious to see how these elements would come together. The early chapters hooked me with the promise of a slow-burn romance and the mystery surrounding the FL's past.
What Works Well
The core strength of this novel lies in its characters and their relationships. The interactions between the cat-like FL and the devoted merman are genuinely sweet and heartwarming. It's the kind of story that makes you smile. I especially enjoyed the slice-of-life aspects, which are both relaxing and engaging. The unhurried pace of the romance allows the characters to develop naturally, making their connection feel believable and earned. The author does a great job of portraying the merman's character, showing both his power and his vulnerabilities.
Areas of Concern
I did find the ABO setting to be somewhat underdeveloped. It feels more like a background detail than an integral part of the plot. The misunderstandings between the characters, stemming from the communication barrier, can also be a bit frustrating at times. I also felt that the FL's "alpha" status didn't quite live up to my expectations. I was hoping for a more assertive and powerful character, but she often comes across as a bit weak and indecisive.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Cat A is also an Alpha!" is a heartwarming and enjoyable read, especially if you're a fan of slice-of-life stories with a touch of romance. While the ABO elements could have been better integrated and the FL's character could have been stronger, the charming characters and sweet romance make it a worthwhile experience. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a feel-good story that will leave you with a smile.
