My Thoughts on Become Stronger
"Become Stronger" is a web novel that definitely lives up to its name in more ways than one. It's a hefty read, but I found myself drawn into the protagonist's journey of revenge and self-discovery across multiple worlds. While it has a few quirks, it’s a novel that’s stuck with me, and I can see why it's so popular.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the premise: a protagonist fueled by vengeance, armed with a system, and tasked with conquering different worlds. The early arcs definitely delivered on this promise, showcasing a cold, calculating MC focused solely on his goals. I quickly grew attached to his character, and I was impressed by his growth throughout the story.
What Works Well
The world-hopping aspect is, without a doubt, the strongest element of "Become Stronger." Each world feels distinct and well-developed, drawing me into the unique challenges and scenarios the MC faced. I particularly enjoyed the western fantasy arc, which was described as richly drawn and interesting, despite using standard elements. The author's ability to create engaging narratives within each arc kept me invested, even when the overarching plot seemed to take a backseat. The slow-burn romance was also a plus for me. Although it took a while for the MC and ML to officially become a couple, their subtle interactions and growing affection were apparent.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel overall, there were a couple of aspects that didn't quite resonate with me. I can see how some might find the ML's character development a bit disappointing. I felt he became less competent and more dependent on the MC as the story progressed. This shift in dynamic made him a less compelling character, and his screen time sometimes felt excessive. Also, the ghost-themed arc didn't grab my attention as much as the others, and I struggled to fully engage with its plot.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might find the resolution to the ML's storyline predictable or underwhelming. Additionally, the MC's eventual power level becomes so high that it diminishes the tension in the later parts of the story.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Become Stronger" is a worthwhile read, especially if you're a fan of quick transmigration novels with complex characters and intriguing world-building. The MC's journey of healing and growth, combined with the captivating individual arcs, makes for an enjoyable and immersive experience. While the overarching plot might not be the strongest aspect, the individual stories and character interactions more than make up for it. I'd recommend giving it a try, but be prepared for a slow-burn romance and a potentially frustrating shift in the ML's character.
