Your Kingdom Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Your Kingdom "Your Kingdom" promised a blend of dark fantasy and sweet romance, and while it mostly delivered, I walked away with mixed feelings. It’s a short and relatively simple read, perfect if you're looking to fill an afternoon. ### First Impressions The premise immediately grabbed me: a sickly, naive prince, Licht, taken captive by the commander, Fernand, who destroyed his kingdom. The setup hinted at a potentially angsty and complex relationship dynamic, and I was eager to see how it would unfold. I found myself drawn to Licht's character. He is a true cinnamon roll, and I was immediately invested in his well-being. ### What Works Well The core strength of "Your Kingdom" lies in its central relationship. The slow burn between Licht and Fernand, as Licht heals from his trauma and Fernand grapples with his growing feelings, is genuinely heartwarming. I appreciated the author's exploration of Licht's past abuse and neglect and how it shaped his worldview. It added a layer of depth to what could have been a purely fluffy romance. The "master-servant" dynamic, while potentially problematic, is handled with a surprising amount of care, focusing on Fernand's gradual realization of Licht's humanity and worth. ### Areas of Concern However, the novel isn't without its flaws. The pacing felt rushed at times, especially regarding Licht's emotional development and his understanding of the world around him. Certain plot points, like the true identity of the gardener, felt underdeveloped and ultimately inconsequential. The ending, while providing closure, left me wanting more. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several readers have pointed out a major plot point that might bother some: Fernand never explicitly tells Licht that he was responsible for the destruction of Licht's kingdom. Also, Licht's naivety leads to a situation where he seemingly doesn't fully understand the implications of their first sexual encounter. These elements contribute to the story's "dark romance" undertones, but they could also be triggers for some readers. ### Final Verdict Despite its shortcomings, I found "Your Kingdom" to be an enjoyable, albeit imperfect, read. It's a story with a lot of heart, and the central relationship is compelling enough to overlook some of the weaker plot elements. If you're a fan of dark-ish romance with a sweet center and are willing to accept a few narrative loose ends, it’s worth checking out. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
