Description

Amid a world war, with his awakening to powerful special abilities (Soul Armor Abilities), Kamiya Yuusuke, conscripted into the military at the age of 10 due to this newfound power, continued to achieve numerous victories on the challenging battlefield. As a result, at the age of 15, he held the position of Brigadier General. Despite traversing battlefields worldwide, he finally managed to return to Japan. The joy of returning home was short-lived, as news of an underage boy in the military started to leak to the public. In response, the military high command ordered Yuusuke to attend a military school called the Special Operations Soul Armor Academy and undergo a revision of his military records. Yuusuke, secretly pleased at the prospect of reclaiming his youth, faced numerous troubles, whether due to the nature of the unique school or perhaps because he had been in constant battle since childhood. What will happen to his relationships with strong-willed girls such as his half-silver-haired childhood friend, the older sister officer who is his work partner, and the tsundere honor student of the same age?

Upon Returning Home As A Military Major General, I Was Told To Attend School, Even Though It’s Quite Late Now Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Upon Returning Home As A Military Major General, I Was Told To Attend School, Even Though It’s Quite Late Now Okay, let's dive into this title, because wow, it's a mouthful. "Upon Returning Home As A Military Major General, I Was Told To Attend School, Even Though It’s Quite Late Now" promises a specific flavor, and for the most part, it delivers, though maybe not always in the ways I expected. ### First Impressions The premise is intriguing, right? A hardened military veteran forced back into the awkward halls of high school. The initial chapters do a decent job of setting up the fish-out-of-water scenario and hinting at the power imbalance between our MC and his new environment. I was definitely curious to see how he'd navigate the challenges of hiding his true abilities while surrounded by hormonal teenagers. ### What Works Well The strength of this story, in my opinion, lies in the character interactions, particularly with the female leads. The author has created a diverse cast of love interests, each with their own quirks and attachments to the MC. There's a definite harem vibe going on, and if you're into that, you'll probably enjoy seeing the different dynamics unfold. I found the "onee-san" type character, a former battlefield partner with a penchant for babying the MC, to be a particularly fun addition. The childhood friend's cat-like behavior also added a layer of lightheartedness to the story. ### Areas of Concern However, if you're looking for intense action or intricate plot development, this might not be your cup of tea. The fight scenes, from what I've read, tend to be brief and glossed over. The focus is clearly on the relationships and comedic situations, which can leave the action feeling a bit underwhelming. I was also hoping for a more compelling reason for the MC to hide his rank, but it seems to be played more for laughs than for serious stakes. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning There's a yandere step-sister who uses her espionage skills to manipulate events and get closer to the MC. Her obsession with him and the taboo nature of their relationship might be off-putting for some readers. There's also a classmate with a rather unusual smell fetish. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Upon Returning Home As A Military Major General, I Was Told To Attend School, Even Though It’s Quite Late Now" is a light and entertaining read, especially if you enjoy harem stories with a focus on character interactions. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a decent way to spend your time if you're looking for something fluffy and undemanding. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars. Just be aware of the potential triggers and don't expect a deep or complex plot.
