Under Clear Skies Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Under Clear Skies "Under Clear Skies" is a novel that certainly left a mark on me. Diving into this story, I knew I was in for some angst, but I wasn't quite prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that followed. It's a blend of mystery, psychological elements, romance, and a touch of tragedy that keeps you hooked, even when your heart is breaking. ### First Impressions The non-linear timeline, jumping between the present day and flashbacks, immediately grabbed my attention. It's a clever way of slowly revealing the characters' backstories and the secrets that haunt them. The initial chapters set a melancholic tone that foreshadows the emotional turmoil to come. ### What Works Well The author excels at creating a palpable sense of emotion. The connection between Tang Heng and Li Yuechi feels immediate and intense, despite their vastly different backgrounds. I was particularly moved by Li Yuechi's character, his self-sacrificing nature and his unwavering devotion to Tang Heng. The way he constantly prioritizes Tang Heng's well-being, even at his own expense, is both heartbreaking and admirable. Tang Heng's character development is also compelling, as he matures and learns to navigate the complexities of their relationship. The story explores themes of poverty, societal expectations, and the lasting impact of past traumas. The author doesn't shy away from portraying the uglier aspects of human nature, but balances it with moments of humor and tenderness. ### Areas of Concern While I appreciated the angst, there were times when it felt unrelenting. The characters face numerous obstacles, and their communication issues often exacerbate the problems. I also felt that some aspects of the plot, particularly the resolution of the main villain's storyline, could have been more detailed. Some readers may find the MC's actions hard to deal with due to his mental state. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have pointed out that Tang Heng may have Borderline Personality Disorder. This, along with the academic corruption at the heart of the mystery, might be difficult for some readers to process. ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, "Under Clear Skies" is a compelling and emotionally resonant read. If you're a fan of angsty novels with complex characters and a well-developed plot, I would recommend giving this a try. Just be prepared to shed some tears along the way. The happy ending makes the journey worth it, but it's definitely a story that will stay with you long after you've finished reading. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
