Two Old Monsters Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Two Old Monsters "Two Old Monsters" promised a quick and entertaining read, and for the most part, it delivered. The premise of a snake spirit and a fox spirit stumbling through the human world, encountering love and marriage (and a lot of other things) along the way, was definitely intriguing. I dove in expecting a lighthearted romp, and I wasn't entirely disappointed. ### First Impressions The initial chapters definitely grabbed my attention. The dynamic between the cold snake spirit, Xie Changan, and the flirtatious fox spirit, Fu Wangzhi, was immediately apparent. Their interactions, driven by a mixture of curiosity and lust, set the stage for what I thought would be a purely comedic story. It’s a story where both characters are new to the human world, which provides a lot of opportunities for comedy. ### What Works Well The humor is a major selling point. These two immortals are, frankly, idiots, and their cluelessness in navigating human customs leads to some genuinely funny situations. I also appreciated the fast-paced writing style. It made the story easy to consume in one sitting, perfect for when you're in the mood for something short and sweet. The romance, while unconventional, has a certain charm. The characters, despite their flaws, become quite attached to each other, and their clinginess, as some might call it, is actually endearing. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: the r\*pe. It happens early on, and it's definitely a problematic element. Fu Wangzhi forces himself on Xie Changan, which understandably left me feeling uneasy. While the story attempts to move past this event, it's something that readers should be aware of before diving in. The characters' ignorance of human lifespans and some of their beliefs also felt a bit contrived. ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, "Two Old Monsters" is an enjoyable, if somewhat flawed, read. The humor, the fast pace, and the engaging dynamic between the two main characters make it a worthwhile experience. However, the problematic content means that it's not for everyone. If you're looking for a light, funny story with a healthy dose of smut and are willing to overlook some questionable elements, then give it a try. I'd say it's a solid 3.8/5.
