The Time Has Come Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Time Has Come ### First Impressions "The Time Has Come" definitely threw me for a loop with its vague synopsis. I went in expecting one thing and got something entirely different. This is a short and smutty read set against a backdrop of war and, let's just say, some pretty intense circumstances. It's not a novel for the faint of heart, that's for sure. ### What Works Well The premise, once you get past the initial shock, is actually kind of intriguing. The female lead's determination to find her presumed-dead husband in a war zone really hooked me. Her dedication is admirable. And when the reunion finally happens, there's a definite emotional payoff, even if it's complicated. The "doting" and "kind" love interests tag also makes sense, as the husband is fiercely protective, even if his methods are questionable in the beginning. If you're looking for a quick, steamy read with a strong romantic core, this might scratch that itch. ### Areas of Concern Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: the non-con themes and the violence. This is where things get tricky. The r*pe scene is, understandably, a major sticking point. It's portrayed as a realistic and despairing moment, which, while adding to the story's grit, can be deeply disturbing. And the violence inflicted on other characters, entirely separate from the main couple, feels gratuitous and, frankly, unnecessary. It's a jarring tonal shift that detracts from the central romance. It's difficult to reconcile the "hot reunion s*x" with the brutal reality of the surrounding events. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, if you haven't read the book, skip this part! The big twist is that the "terrorist" who assaults the FL is actually her long-lost husband in disguise. He's doing what he needs to survive, but it doesn't excuse the act. The FL initially contemplates su*cide during the r*pe before realizing who it is. And the fact that the story just moves on from the wider violence so quickly, to focus on the couple's romance, feels like a disservice to those other victims. ### Final Verdict "The Time Has Come" is a challenging read. While the core romance is compelling and the FL's determination is admirable, the dark themes and violence are difficult to overlook. If you're okay with morally grey characters and aren't easily disturbed by non-con themes, then you might find something to enjoy here. However, I'd recommend going in with caution and a clear understanding of what you're getting into. For me, the disturbing content overshadowed the romantic elements, leaving me with mixed feelings.
