Description

Ye Xuan is a very good doctor. Even though he is only 14-15 years, he has been learning medicine with his grandpa since he was 3 years old. His grandpa is a legendary doctor, of the Medicinal Dao Master level just one step shy of the ultimate level. But his grandpa suddenly died after trying to cure a mysterious person with the “Hundred Evils Body” and Ye Xuan is now trying to survive together with his uncle. His grandpa left the first half of his doctor’s manual to Ye Xuan. The other half is in the hands of a former friend of his grandpa who now refuses to return it. Ye Xuan has to become strong to retrieve the 2nd half of the manual. The first half of the manual contains a special acupuncture method which allows Ye Xuan to cultivate much faster than normal people. When his uncle suddenly disappeared, leaving only a note with the word “flee!” on it, Ye Xuan is left on his own to survive in this world. When Ye Xuan finally made it into a sect, he was forced to join a waning division of the sect where he is the sole student of a beautiful woman. His master…

The Thrilling Sword Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Thrilling Sword "The Thrilling Sword" is a web novel that immediately grabbed my attention with its blend of action, adventure, and a unique take on the Xianxia genre. The premise of a protagonist skilled in both martial arts and medicine is intriguing, and from what I've gathered, it delivers on that promise. ### First Impressions Jumping into this story, I was immediately drawn to the protagonist. He's portrayed as intelligent, level-headed, and genuinely caring, a refreshing change from the often arrogant characters found in similar novels. The early interactions feel promising, with antagonists not immediately resorting to over-the-top villainy and female characters who are actually likable. ### What Works Well The integration of medical knowledge into the cultivation world is a definite highlight. It's not just a gimmick; it seems to be a core aspect of the protagonist's abilities and motivations. I appreciate that the story doesn't shy away from showing the protagonist facing challenges and even needing to be rescued at times. This vulnerability adds a layer of realism and makes him more relatable. Another strong point seems to be the minimal romance focus. While there's a romantic subplot, it doesn't overwhelm the main storyline, allowing the protagonist to develop and grow without being solely defined by his relationships. The fact that he leads an all-girls sect without it devolving into a harem situation is also a plus in my book. ### Areas of Concern One aspect that might be a deal-breaker for some is the potential for heartbreak. It seems the protagonist makes choices that lead to unrequited feelings, and there's even a possibility of character deaths. This adds a layer of realism, but it might not appeal to readers looking for a purely happy-go-lucky story. Also, the prideful nature of the main romance interest may bring trouble to the MC. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, here's where things get a little spoilery. Apparently, there's a loli-dragon girl who becomes the protagonist's mount, and her parents are oddly keen on pairing them up. Also, a female character dies at some point in the story. If those elements bother you, consider yourself warned. ### Final Verdict Overall, "The Thrilling Sword" seems like a compelling and unique Xianxia novel. The blend of martial arts and medicine, the realistic portrayal of characters, and the minimal romance focus are all major selling points. While the potential for heartbreak and character deaths might not be for everyone, it adds a layer of depth and realism to the story. I'm definitely intrigued and plan to delve deeper into this world. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're looking for something a little different in the genre.
