Description

Engaged to Jiang Shengyi for two years, it wasn’t until right before the wedding that Ling Ran realized his alpha fiancé despite their 100% compatibility—had always harbored a white moonlight in his heart. No wonder he had been so reluctant to mark him. After breaking off the engagement, the radiant omega appeared on television. Only then did Jiang Shengyi notice that the little omega seemed like a completely different person—lips red, teeth white, pure yet alluring. Exuding a pampered sensuality, so breathtakingly beautiful it was impossible to look away. He began to regret only giving Ling Ran a temporary mark before and hurriedly drove to the filming location. But all he saw was the little omega trembling as he climbed into another man’s luxury car right in front of him. – Jiang Zhiyu, the head of the Jiang family, was Jiang Shengyi’s uncle. His enigma pheromones were even more dominant and intense than an alpha’s, capable of forcibly overwriting any temporary mark on an omega. Inside the car, a large hand gripped that slender waist as a tall, powerful body pressed down. Sharp canines pierced the nape, the spicy aroma of premium tequila slowly spreading. Ling Ran’s eyes reddened from the overwhelming liquor scent, his fingers clutching the man’s expensive suit. “Too much… ah…” Long fingers pressed the scent-blocking patch back onto the omega’s fragile gland. Jiang Zhiyu stroked his trembling back, smiling faintly. “Bear with it.” – At a later high-society gathering, Ling Ran accompanied Jiang Zhiyu. Everyone present, including his ex-fiancé, stared in disbelief at the intimate pair. That little omega, once rejected by the Jiang family, now had a slightly rounded belly!! In a cramped restroom, the weakened omega clung to the man’s shoulders, whispering softly as he cradled his swollen stomach, “Th-there are people outside…” The enigma’s overwhelming pheromones enveloped him, erasing any trace of another alpha’s scent. A deep, intoxicating voice burned against his ear, “Then let them all see how I mark you.” – Alternate Summary: After breaking off the engagement, he married his ex-fiancé’s uncle.

The Poor Little Thing was Marked by The Obsessive Enigma Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Poor Little Thing was Marked by The Obsessive Enigma This ABO novel is definitely a mixed bag, but I ultimately found it a decent way to spend my time, even if it wasn't groundbreaking. It's the kind of story where you know exactly where it's going, and the journey is more about the fluff than any real plot twists. ### First Impressions Right off the bat, the story plunges you into a world of alphas, omegas, and enigmas, with our poor omega MC caught in a pretty terrible situation. His family treats him like property, and his initial engagement is a disaster waiting to happen. It's a familiar set-up, but I was curious to see how he'd escape his circumstances. ### What Works Well The biggest draw, for me, was the ML, the "Obsessive Enigma" himself. He's incredibly devoted to the MC, offering a stark contrast to the neglect and abuse the MC experiences from his family. I appreciated how the story focused on their relationship, with the ML helping the MC grow and find his own strength. I also found the unique way the author handled intimate moments by using scents and pheromones to be a nice touch. It allowed the story to avoid being overly explicit while still conveying the emotional connection between the characters. ### Areas of Concern Honestly, there were times when I got frustrated. The MC's constant need to be rescued, coupled with his extreme submissiveness, wore thin after a while. It felt like he wasn't given much agency, and the dynamic sometimes leaned a bit too much into a father-child relationship. The villains also felt very one-dimensional, existing solely to make the MC's life miserable. The length of the story was also an issue. There were many moments where the plot dragged, and I felt like certain scenes could have been trimmed down without losing anything important. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers might be annoyed by the MC's tendency to ignore warnings and get himself into trouble, requiring the ML to constantly save him. There's also a significant age gap between the leads and a Dom/Sub relationship dynamic, which might not appeal to everyone. ### Final Verdict "The Poor Little Thing was Marked by The Obsessive Enigma" is a fairly enjoyable read if you're in the mood for a cliché-filled ABO romance with a doting ML. It's not perfect, and the MC's lack of agency and the repetitive plot points can be frustrating. However, if you're willing to overlook its flaws and embrace the fluff, it can be a decent way to pass the time. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
