Description

“Just so you know—I’m your enemy.” In this world, there exist humans… and beings known as Desgones, evil creatures who take pleasure in causing suffering. To fight against these Desgones, magical girls were born. The protagonist is a half-human, half-Desgone hybrid. He pretends to be an ordinary student to carry out his mission and transfers into the same school as the magical girls. He plans to infiltrate their class and slowly corner them through everyday school life. Or at least, that was the plan. But for some reason, the magical girls start warming up to him… and eventually, they begin to fall for him!? This is that kind of story.

The Magical Girl Likes Me, but I’m Her Enemy Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Magical Girl Likes Me, but I’m Her Enemy "The Magical Girl Likes Me, but I’m Her Enemy" is a completed web novel that I recently dove into, and it's definitely a unique experience. Combining elements of comedy, fantasy, and romance, it revolves around a male protagonist with a hidden identity who finds himself in a rather peculiar situation with a magical girl. ### First Impressions Initially, I went in expecting a blend of action and romance, but I quickly realized that this story shines brightest when you treat it as a rom-com with gag elements. The plot isn't the deepest, but it provides a solid foundation for the character interactions and comedic situations. ### What Works Well The main character is undoubtedly the star of the show. He's a kind-hearted, tsundere type who tries his best to embody a narcissistic persona but comically fails at every turn. This creates plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and makes him incredibly endearing. The story also has a unique plot that sets it apart from other fantasy novels. It's funny, cute, and never takes itself too seriously. ### Areas of Concern While the main character is well-developed and engaging, some of the other characters unfortunately fall a bit flat. They tend to be more one-dimensional, serving primarily as foils or comedic relief for the protagonist. Additionally, the pacing can feel a bit off at times. The chapters are short, which can make the story feel disjointed if you're looking for a more immersive experience. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning There's a blonde magical girl that shows up in the second half of the story, and her introduction definitely adds another layer to the narrative. ### Final Verdict Overall, "The Magical Girl Likes Me, but I’m Her Enemy" is an enjoyable read if you're in the mood for a lighthearted and funny story. It's the kind of novel you can pick up when you want to turn your brain off and simply enjoy the ride. Just keep your expectations in check, and you might find yourself chuckling along with the protagonist's misadventures. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
