Description

Bai Zhi is an eunuch—a fake eunuch. In her past life, the empress bestowed upon her a wife, the princess of a fallen kingdom. However, when the crown prince attempted to assault her wife, he was killed in self-defense. In the end, the fake eunuch and the princess of the fallen kingdom met their fate by being beheaded in public, their lives filled with humiliation and absurdity. When Bai Zhi opened her eyes again, she found herself reborn one year earlier, when the beautiful and tragic princess of the fallen kingdom had just been tied up and thrown onto her bed. This time, she only wanted to survive, but as she tried to leave, she was stopped. The princess, with teary eyes, clutched her sleeve and asked, “Husband, won’t you take me with you?” Bai Zhi replied, “From now on, I can only live a hard life of farming. You should find your own way.” Princess: “I am willing to accompany you in a life of men plowing and women weaving.” Bai Zhi: “…” But I am a woman!

The Eunuch Has A Wife Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Eunuch Has A Wife "The Eunuch Has A Wife" promised a unique blend of historical drama, romance, and a touch of yuri, and while it delivered on some fronts, it also stumbled in others. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but definitely not without its flaws. ### First Impressions Initially, I found myself struggling to connect with the main characters. The dynamic between Bai Zhi and Wei Ziwan felt more frustrating than endearing early on, with their constant bickering bordering on irritating. Bai Zhi, in particular, came across as hypocritical, especially in her treatment of the princess despite her adoptive father's teachings. I almost gave up within the first few chapters. ### What Works Well Despite the rocky start, the story improved significantly as it progressed. The shift in setting to Lingyue Manor was a turning point, forcing Bai Zhi and Wei Ziwan to rely on each other and fostering a sense of camaraderie. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve from mutual wariness to genuine trust and eventually, love. The mysteries surrounding Bai Zhi's origins also kept me hooked, and the reveals in the latter part of the novel were worth the wait. The comedic undertones added a lighthearted touch, and I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. The farming aspect within the Lingyue Manor arc was a unique touch that I thoroughly enjoyed. ### Areas of Concern The pacing felt rushed, especially in the final third of the novel where Bai Zhi's background was explored. I would have liked to see this section fleshed out further with more chapters dedicated to her origins and her mother's story. Furthermore, Wei Ziwan's backstory felt underdeveloped. I wanted to know more about her life as a fallen princess and the circumstances that led to her being sent to Bai Zhi. The initial characterization of Bai Zhi as somewhat "dumb" was also a bit jarring, considering her upbringing in the palace. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning There are spoilers in the following section regarding plot points and character reveals. Proceed with caution. Some readers theorized that Bai Zhi might be the Empress's real child, with the Crown Prince being a fake. While this adds an intriguing layer to the story, it also highlights the lack of exploration into Wei Ziwan's past as a princess from a fallen kingdom. ### Final Verdict "The Eunuch Has A Wife" is a flawed but ultimately enjoyable novel. If you can persevere through the initial frustrations and somewhat rushed pacing, you'll be rewarded with a heartwarming romance and intriguing mysteries. While I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, it's a worthwhile read for those who enjoy historical shoujo ai with a unique premise. I'd rate it a solid 4/5.
