Description

Layla Ashbury, the Duke’s daughter, has been sleeping for two years. When she woke up, the first thing she learned was that her fiancé, the crown prince, was about to marry her younger sister, Rose. Her parents excused themselves, saying that the Royal Family insisted on marrying into their family, and in the end, it was her younger sister Rose who won. Although it was only a political marriage, Layla truly loved the crown prince; but now her only option was to marry someone else and see her little sister be happy with him. At the end of her rehabilitation treatment, Layla was able to walk around her house and it was at this point that she decided to enter a monastery on the outskirts of the Imperial Capital, which was famous for “denying access to anyone who wishes to enter”. One day, without telling her parents or the servants themselves about her whereabouts, Layla escapes from her home. But on her way, Layla is caught in the middle of the road by the heavy rain. And at that moment a young wizard appeared, whom she recognized as a famous person, and extended a hand to help her when he saw her deplorable state. A dreamy love story, which begins with the escape of the Duke’s daughter after a heartbreak.

The Escape of Layla Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Escape of Layla "The Escape of Layla" presents a classic setup: a wronged fiancée finding a second chance at love. With elements of drama, fantasy, and romance, it seems to aim for a shoujo audience, and I was curious to see how it would deliver. ### First Impressions The initial chapters certainly throw you into the deep end. We're immediately introduced to Layla's unfortunate situation – a broken engagement and a sister who's, shall we say, *complicating* things. The angst is definitely present, which, for readers like me who enjoy a bit of heartbreak before the healing, is a good sign. I was intrigued by the potential for a satisfying "finding someone better" narrative. ### What Works Well The pacing, at least initially, seems to keep things moving. Layla's escape and subsequent meeting with a new potential love interest happen relatively quickly. Some readers seem to be enjoying the developing romance and are eager for updates. The promise of a caring protagonist and a handsome male lead is definitely appealing, and the manga adaptation suggests there's visual appeal to the story as well. ### Areas of Concern However, I have to admit that some aspects raised concerns for me. The speed at which Layla seems to move on from her previous relationship might feel rushed to some readers. Jumping from heartbreak to a "newlywed-like life" in just a few chapters could feel jarring and undermine the initial emotional impact. The simplistic writing style and somewhat random plot developments were also mentioned. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have pointed out specific plot points that could be considered spoilers. Specifically, Layla's rapid romantic entanglement with another character after escaping, the circumstances surrounding their meeting (kidnapping!), and the introduction of magical elements might not sit well with everyone. The tags also suggest potential for love triangles, possessive characters, and even yandere traits, which could be a hit or miss depending on personal preference. ### Final Verdict "The Escape of Layla" has the potential to be an enjoyable read, particularly for those who enjoy quick-paced shoujo romances with a touch of fantasy. However, the potentially rushed development and simplistic writing might not appeal to all readers. It seems like whether or not you'll enjoy this depends on your tolerance for insta-love and your preference for plot over deep character development. I'd recommend going in with an open mind and seeing if Layla's journey resonates with you.
