Description

A long, long time ago. Nopperabou is a lonely youkai ostracized by other youkai because he doesn’t have a face. He hides himself behind a fox mask and waits alone for someone he can one day love. 200 years later── Tatsumi, a partially blind employee at a generic company, was aware that he was the odd one out at his workplace. Tatsumi’s sole delight was spending his lunch time with Kusamakura- the fox-mask wearing man that he met by chance. He’s a little otherworldly and uses old-fashioned words, but he’s honest and straightforward with Tatsumi. Before long, Tatsumi finds himself falling for the man. At that time, strange things start happening around Tatsumi…

Tenonaru Hou e Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on *Tenonaru Hou e* *Tenonaru Hou e* is a bit of a hidden gem in the world of supernatural BL, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. It's a story that gently pulls you in with its heartwarming premise and intriguing characters. While it has its darker moments, the core of the story revolves around connection and overcoming personal struggles. ### First Impressions The initial chapters definitely require patience. The prologue is quite extensive, setting the stage for the emotional journeys of both Tatsumi and Kusamakura. It's not a fast-paced beginning, but the slow burn allows you to truly understand and empathize with the characters' individual burdens before they even meet. I found myself drawn in by the melancholy atmosphere and the promise of a healing connection between the two leads. ### What Works Well The dynamic between Tatsumi, the blind salaryman, and Kusamakura, the faceless youkai, is undeniably the strongest aspect of the novel. Their friendship blossoms beautifully, each offering the other a sense of belonging and acceptance they desperately crave. The author does a great job of portraying how their bond makes their lives better, creating a genuinely heartwarming experience. The inclusion of various youkai adds a layer of fantasy that keeps the story engaging. The way Kusamakura eventually steps up to protect Tatsumi is also handled well. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning The story does take a darker turn when Tatsumi becomes the target of malicious youkai. Because of his blindness, he's vulnerable and unaware of the nightly harassment, which adds a layer of suspense and, admittedly, some disturbing elements. Kusamakura's eventual rescue is a pivotal moment that solidifies their relationship and propels the plot forward. ### Final Verdict Overall, *Tenonaru Hou e* is a worthwhile read if you're a fan of slow-burn romance, supernatural elements, and stories that tackle personal struggles with sensitivity. It's a short and sweet fantasy that explores the blossoming relationship between a human with disabilities and a lonely youkai. While the initial pacing might test your patience, the heartwarming connection between Tatsumi and Kusamakura, along with the intriguing world of youkai, makes it a rewarding experience.
