Otherwise known as:Master’s Favorite Hobby Is Standing on the Precipice of Exhilarating Danger and Hopping Up and DownThe Repentance of an Evil Disciple: My Master Was too Delicious
Ten thousand years ago, there was once a sword cultivator named Lord Yunzhen. He caught hold of a little sword spirit with outstanding talent.
Filled with joy, he became a master for the first time, assiduously raising his disciple. He could be called the very model of the profession, so dedicated that it was a little weird.
His disciple found his master so sweet and delicious that his heart turned black, and he became the lord of all demons.

The process: all sorts of exhilarating thrills that can’t be described in Jinjiang Literature City.
The result: My account got deleted, and I had to start over.
***
Ten thousand years later, Lu Yunzhen was a broke college student studying computer science. He met a terrifying high-level demon with outstanding talent, who wanted to take him as a master, and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Mo Changkong acted honest. “I have pure intentions.”Mo Changkong swore, “I’ll listen to everything you say.”Mo Changkong was a practiced salesman. “I can slay monsters and demons.”Mo Changkong guaranteed, “I’d never lust after Master’s beauty.”
Lu Yunzhen believed him!
Then one day, he recovered his memories, and realized his disciple wasn’t a loyal hound, but a possessive freak.
Lu Yunzhen: “???”
Mo Changkong: “Sorry, no returns allowed.”
***
This is the story of a loving master and loyal disciple, who stay that way so long as they’re not in bed. They fight monsters shoulder to shoulder, protect the public, and become heroes of the nation. In bed, well, that’s a different story—pillows and sheets go flying, and they quarrel as lovers do.
Lu Yunzhen: I love the world, it’s happy endings no matter where you go.
Mo Changkong: Master and I are the world.

## My Thoughts on Shizun
"Shizun" by the author of "Mistakenly Saving the Villain" promised a wild ride, and after diving in, I can definitely say it delivered, though not always in ways I expected. While it shares some DNA with its predecessor, it carves out its own unique, and sometimes controversial, path.
### First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the familiar master-disciple dynamic, a trope I find endlessly fascinating. The blend of xianxia, romance, and comedy seemed like a winning combination. The story starts off strong, quickly establishing the world and the central relationship.
### What Works Well
The heart of this novel lies in its characters and their relationships. The dynamic between the shizun and his disciple is undeniably captivating, filled with a mutual obsession that's both heartwarming and, at times, a little unsettling. I particularly enjoyed the found family aspect; the supporting characters add a layer of depth and humor that elevates the entire story. The author's knack for writing hurt/comfort scenarios is on full display, and there were moments that genuinely tugged at my heartstrings. The unique take on modern cultivation also adds a refreshing twist to the genre.
### Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed much of the story, I can understand some of the criticisms leveled against it. The plot does drag in the middle, losing some of its initial momentum. The portrayal of the villain, and the MC's motivations, may not sit well with all readers. Some might find the MC's actions questionable, and the villain's vulgarity off-putting. The ending, while satisfying for some, might not fully redeem the earlier pacing issues for others.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might find the MC's treatment of other disciples, and the circumstances surrounding the villain's descent, morally ambiguous.
### Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, I ultimately found "Shizun" to be a worthwhile read. It's a complex and engaging story with memorable characters and a unique world. If you're a fan of master-disciple relationships, hurt/comfort tropes, and found family dynamics, then this novel is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a story that isn't afraid to explore some darker themes and challenge your expectations. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
