Description

Xu Nian’s mother was sick, and as they were a normal single income family, they used up all their money to pay for her hospital fees. It wasn’t enough. Xu Nian was a young, good-looking but also very poor university student who was trying to look for a way out. Cheng Chen was a domineering CEO. He just dumped a lover, and is looking for a new one…and this time he wants a male one. They meet, and fit each other’s needs quite well. And as the cliched script goes, they enter into a give and take relationship–no love or feelings involved. But… Who knew that the domineering CEO had such a cute habit! Note: The titular Sewing Machine, is referring to the ML, Cheng Chen because of his leg shaking habit. The shaking is kind of like a sewing machine’s needle going up and down, up and down.

Sewing Machine’s Love Story Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Sewing Machine’s Love Story "Sewing Machine's Love Story" is a completed yaoi novel that I found to be a quick and fluffy read, perfect for a lighthearted break between heavier stories. It's a comedy with mature themes and romance, featuring a boss-subordinate relationship that develops in unexpected ways. While it has its quirks, I ultimately found it to be an enjoyable experience. ### First Impressions The premise is definitely attention-grabbing: a young man, Xu Nian, takes on the role of a sugar baby for a CEO, Cheng Chen, who wants to keep up appearances. What initially seems like a purely transactional arrangement slowly evolves into something more. I was immediately intrigued by the dynamic between the clever protagonist and the handsome, if somewhat clueless, male lead. ### What Works Well Many readers, including myself, found the characters to be the strongest aspect of the novel. Xu Nian is refreshingly straightforward and pragmatic, while Cheng Chen, with his "sewing machine" leg (a nervous tick that betrays his true feelings), is an adorably innocent tsundere. Their interactions are often hilarious, and I appreciated how the author played with the sugar daddy/sugar baby trope, turning it into a comedic parody with a heartwarming core. The side characters, particularly the secretary, add to the humor and overall enjoyment. I really appreciated the lightheartedness and lack of heavy angst. It's a feel-good story that doesn't take itself too seriously. ### Areas of Concern While I enjoyed the novel, I can see why some readers might be put off. Cheng Chen's extreme tsundere personality and initial use of homophobic language can be grating, though it's often framed as part of his comedic character. Also, the development of Xu Nian's feelings for Cheng Chen could have been more fleshed out. It felt a bit abrupt, and I would have liked to see a clearer turning point in their relationship. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some reviewers mentioned specific plot points, such as Cheng Chen creating an evaluation report for Xu Nian or the secretary acting as a go-between after their first kiss. These details do provide some context for the characters' personalities and the comedic tone of the story. ### Final Verdict Overall, I'd give "Sewing Machine's Love Story" a solid recommendation if you're looking for a short, fluffy, and funny yaoi novel. It's not high literature, but it's a delightful palate cleanser. Just be aware of the ML's initial tsundere tendencies and the somewhat underdeveloped romantic feelings. If you can overlook those minor flaws, you're in for a sweet and entertaining ride.
