It's a story packed with angst, secrets, and corporate intrigue, all wrapped around a central romance that's as compelling as it is frustrating. I went in expecting a heavy dose of drama, and I definitely got it, but the execution wasn't always perfect. ### First Impressions Initially, I was hooked. The premise is intriguing: two people caught in a web of family conflict and revenge, their attraction undeniable yet constantly thwarted. The female lead starts off in a position where you're rooting for her, and the male lead is mysterious enough to keep you guessing. I was ready for a wild ride. ### What Works Well The novel excels at creating a palpable tension between the main characters. The reasons for their inability to communicate are well-established, making their misunderstandings feel organic, even when they're agonizing to watch. The smut scenes were also well done, and it's clear that the physical attraction between the two is very strong, adding another layer to the story. The characters are flawed, but I feel this makes them very human and relatable. Also, the company politics and backstabbing adds a lot of suspense. ### Areas of Concern While the first half of the novel is gripping, it seemed to lose its way in the latter half. I felt the ending was rushed and formulaic, and I was left wanting more. Specifically, I wanted to see more of the reconciliation process between the leads. After everything they went through, a single epilogue felt insufficient. I would have liked to see more of the relationship development. I know some readers felt like the male lead's illness was a cheap plot device to sway the female lead's decision. It's a story that will definitely tug at your heartstrings, even if it doesn't always stick the landing. I'd recommend it, but with the caveat that the ending might leave you wanting more.
