Description

With neither relatives nor a home, Xiaodong became a disciple of Hui Lui Mountain. In his dreams, he would often see certain people and events. What was most surprising was that many of the things he dreamed of were exactly the same as those that had really happened. However, he never once experienced these events himself, so how could he dream of them? Yet, some things were completely opposite from reality. Like Eldest Senior Brother. He is clearly such a great person, yet in Xiaodong’s dreams, he became a vile human who killed people as if they were flies. No, to begin with, he might not even be human.

Records of the Dragon Follower Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Records of the Dragon Follower "Records of the Dragon Follower" has definitely piqued my interest. It's a slow-burn cultivation story with a heavy emphasis on character interaction, and so far I'm enjoying the journey. It's not the typical face-slapping, power-leveling xianxia; instead, it feels more like a coming-of-age tale with a slice-of-life feel, which is a breath of fresh air. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a unique take on the cultivation world. Instead of focusing on the typical rise to power, this story seems to delve into the lives of those within declining sects, exploring how they cope with the aftermath. The early chapters focus on Xiaodong, our young protagonist, as he adjusts to life on Returnflow Mountain and builds relationships with his senior brothers and sister. It's heartwarming and engaging, even if the translation can be a little rough around the edges at times. ### What Works Well The strength of this novel lies in its characters. Each one feels distinct and well-developed, even the minor ones. I appreciate how the author portrays Xiaodong as a genuinely young child, with simple thoughts and a naive perspective. The world-building is also quite subtle and effective, with details gradually revealed through character interactions and everyday life. The slow pace allows for a deeper connection with the characters and a greater appreciation for the nuances of their relationships. The descriptions are beautifully written and have a calming effect on the reader. ### Areas of Concern The slow pacing, while a strength in some ways, can also be a drawback. The romance, tagged as shounen ai, is incredibly slow-burn, almost to the point of being nonexistent. If you're looking for explicit romantic development, you might be disappointed. Also, the main character is still quite young even after dozens of chapters, which may not appeal to all readers. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have pointed out that the synopsis might be slightly misleading regarding the eldest senior brother's character. While the summary hints at him being a potentially dangerous or villainous figure, the story, at least up to the currently translated chapters, portrays him as an upright and caring individual. This could change as the story progresses, but it's something to keep in mind. ### Final Verdict Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic about "Records of the Dragon Follower." It's a beautifully written, character-driven story with a unique take on the cultivation genre. If you enjoy slow-paced narratives, rich character development, and a slice-of-life feel, this novel might be right up your alley. Just be prepared for a very slow-burn romance and a protagonist who remains young for a significant portion of the story. I'd recommend giving it a try, but temper your expectations for immediate action or explicit romance.
