Never Meeting Again In Our Next Life Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Never Meeting Again In Our Next Life "Never Meeting Again In Our Next Life" promised a second chance romance, a trope I usually adore. However, my experience with this novel was...complicated. It's a bumpy ride, filled with some intriguing ideas that ultimately get bogged down in questionable plot choices and character dynamics. ### First Impressions Initially, I was hooked by the premise: a protagonist, Xia Lin, getting a chance to redo his life after being treated poorly in his past relationship with Song Yan. The idea of him forging a new path, free from past trauma, was compelling. The angst was palpable, and I was ready for a satisfying story of growth and perhaps, eventual forgiveness. ### What Works Well There are moments where the author shines. The initial setup of Xia Lin trying to distance himself from Song Yan in this new timeline is genuinely interesting. I also found the introduction of parallel worlds and supernatural elements to be a bold move. It certainly deviated from the typical rebirth formula, even if I'm not entirely convinced it was pulled off seamlessly. Some readers seemed to enjoy the side pairing as well, and the world-building. ### Areas of Concern This is where things get dicey. The biggest issue, and one that I simply can't overlook, is the depiction of the relationship between Xia Lin and Song Yan after their rebirths. I found myself increasingly uncomfortable with the power dynamics and the instances of non-consensual behavior. The idea of a "redemption arc" for Song Yan felt incredibly strained, especially given the severity of his actions. It became difficult for me to root for their relationship when it seemed built on a foundation of manipulation and, at times, outright abuse. The ML being a "clown" and "selfish" was a sentiment I found myself agreeing with, and it made it hard to enjoy the story. It's a shame because the potential was there, but the execution fell short for me. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several reviews mentioned specific instances of r*pe and s*xual assault, particularly in the first volume. There are also concerns about the ML locking the MC in his apartment. If these themes are triggering for you, I would strongly advise approaching this novel with caution. ### Final Verdict Ultimately, "Never Meeting Again In Our Next Life" is a story that I wanted to love, but couldn't. While it has moments of promise and a willingness to take risks with its plot, the problematic relationship dynamics and potentially triggering content overshadowed any enjoyment I might have found. For me, the execution didn't live up to the initial potential. I wouldn't recommend this novel unless you're prepared to navigate some very difficult and potentially upsetting themes.
