Necropolis Immortal Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
## My Thoughts on Necropolis Immortal
"Necropolis Immortal" promised a unique blend of xuanhuan action, tomb raiding, and a dash of the macabre. As a seasoned reader of web novels, I was intrigued, but my experience was a mixed bag. While there are elements to appreciate, some significant flaws held it back.
### First Impressions
The initial chapters hooked me with the fresh premise of a tomb raider reincarnated into a world of immortals, armed with Feng Shui knowledge. The early pacing felt brisk, throwing me into the action quickly. This tomb-raiding MC, steeped in earth folklore, was a breath of fresh air. I liked seeing a protagonist skilled in feng shui, mumbo jumbo, and other made-up stuff like that. However, my enthusiasm waned as the story progressed.
### What Works Well
I appreciated the unique setting and the blend of Chinese folklore with a cultivation world. The focus on Feng Shui and tomb raiding provided a different flavor from typical cultivation stories. The integration of necromancy and geomancy also stood out as refreshing and complex. I found the concept of interconnected tombs and the resulting conspiracies intriguing.
### Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, several issues plagued my reading experience. The plot felt chaotic at times, with a lack of coherent flow and explanations for the MC's actions. Power levels seemed inconsistent, and the MC often gained new abilities without proper development. The romance subplot, in particular, left a sour taste. The main female lead's constant disguises and the MC's obliviousness felt forced and cringeworthy. I also felt there was too much tomb raiding.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers might be sensitive to plot details, so be warned! >!The female lead disguising herself as a man for an extended period, with the MC being completely unaware despite obvious clues, was a major point of frustration for me. The fact that he is commenting on how "he's" boneless, feels like a female and "his" breath smells sweet and he's somehow turned on all the time while being afraid of turning gay also bothers me. Additionally, the constant cycle of finding a tomb, encountering a powerful zombie, narrowly escaping death, and then taming the zombie grew repetitive.!<
### Final Verdict
"Necropolis Immortal" has potential, but it struggles with execution. The unique setting and fast-paced plot are appealing, but the inconsistent power levels, confusing plot developments, and questionable romance drag it down. If you're looking for a novel with a unique premise and don't mind overlooking some significant flaws, it might be worth a try. However, I can only give it a 3/5.
