Description

High school student Ooshima Kamome got his first girlfriend. She is Shishido Himawari, a neat and reserved classmate. From now on, happy days for the two of them will begin. Just as that seems to be the case, Kamome reunites with his first love, Tsuyu, at Himawari’s house for the first time in several years. Tsuyu, who has lost her bright and cheerful old self, has a decadent and dreary air about her. She has become Himawari’s stepsister due to her parents’ remarriage. The shock of the reunion is short-lived, as Kamome is taken into Tsuyu’s room without knowing what is going on. 「…Perhaps, it was your first time?」 I want you to return to the way you were when I liked you. Despite having a girlfriend, Kamome is slowly being consumed by his feelings for Tsuyu. Is it pure love or obsession? This is a story of pure, straightforward, plundering love.

My Girlfriend’s Older Sister… Is My First Love, Who Has Changed Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on My Girlfriend’s Older Sister… Is My First Love, Who Has Changed Alright, let's dive into "My Girlfriend’s Older Sister… Is My First Love, Who Has Changed." That title is a mouthful, isn't it? I went in with a healthy dose of skepticism, and honestly, the story is a bit of a rollercoaster. I can see why it has a mixed reception. ### First Impressions The premise is definitely… something. Our protagonist is dating a sweet, somewhat shy girl who's into literature and gaming – a total win in my book, frankly! But then, BAM! His childhood friend, who he also happened to have a first love crush on, reappears as his girlfriend's *older step-sister*. And she's not exactly subtle about her intentions. It's a recipe for drama, that's for sure. ### What Works Well Despite the potential for a complete train wreck, the author, Kimura, manages to make it… almost forgivable? The writing pulls you in, and I appreciated that the current girlfriend isn't portrayed as a terrible person. She's actually quite likable, which makes the situation even more complicated. I was also pleasantly surprised by the protagonist's moments of strength. He's not just a pushover; he actually stands up for himself sometimes, like when he confronts the older sister about her blackmail attempt. The fact that he immediately confesses to his girlfriend shows a level of integrity I wasn't expecting. ### Areas of Concern The "chance encounters" between the protagonist and his first love are a bit much. It stretches believability. Also, the older sister relies a bit too heavily on the damsel-in-distress trope, needing to be saved from aggressive guys. It makes you wonder how she's even survived this long. And while I appreciate the girlfriend's trusting nature, her timidity can be frustrating, especially when her step-sister is actively trying to steal her boyfriend! ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, here's where I get into spoiler territory. The childhood friend straight up deep kisses the protagonist when he visits his girlfriend for the first time. That's a bold move! He lies to his girlfriend about it, which, let's be honest, isn't a great start. However, he later confesses everything, which is a definite plus. The story ends on a cliffhanger, with the author hinting at a "pure yet twisted" love story. ### Final Verdict "My Girlfriend’s Older Sister… Is My First Love, Who Has Changed" is a flawed but strangely compelling read. If you can stomach the potential for love triangle drama and some unbelievable plot points, you might find yourself surprisingly invested. I'm giving it a tentative 3 out of 5 stars. It's not perfect, but it's definitely a unique and thought-provoking take on the first love trope. Just be prepared for some frustration along the way.
