Marry! My Black Horse Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Marry! My Black Horse "Marry! My Black Horse" promised a fluffy, light read, and for the most part, it delivered. This josei romance focuses on an arranged marriage that blossoms into something more, and while it has its charms, it also stumbles in a few key areas. Overall, I found it an enjoyable, albeit imperfect, way to spend my reading time. ### First Impressions The premise itself is simple: two individuals enter a marriage of convenience and gradually fall in love. The initial awkwardness of their relationship is definitely present, and the early chapters focus on their adjustment to married life, including the physical aspect, which some might find a bit rushed given the lack of initial emotional connection. However, the story quickly establishes the main characters and sets the stage for their relationship to evolve. ### What Works Well The strength of this novel lies in its lightheartedness and the gradual development of the central romance. Many readers praised the "black-bellied" male lead and the "cute" female lead, finding their interactions adorable and their bickering charming. I appreciated that the couple, despite their initial misunderstandings, made an effort to communicate and work through their problems. The story doesn't dwell on excessive drama, which makes it a relaxing read. The side stories, particularly one involving a side couple, were also a hit with some readers. The overall premise is cute and fluffy, a light read that is perfect to unwind with. ### Areas of Concern Despite the enjoyable aspects, there are some valid criticisms. The male lead's behavior is a significant point of contention. His chauvinistic remarks and controlling tendencies rubbed some readers the wrong way, and I can understand why. While he does show a softer side, his initial actions might be off-putting to some. Also, the female lead's immaturity was a consistent complaint and may frustrate some readers. I also noticed that the ending felt a little disjointed to some, with a sudden shift in focus to the couple's daughter that felt unnecessary. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers mentioned feeling disappointed by the ending's focus on the daughter's story rather than a deeper exploration of the main couple's life together post-marriage. There are also mentions of the male lead's past relationship and the way he handled it, which some felt was unfair to the ex-girlfriend. ### Final Verdict "Marry! My Black Horse" is a decent romance novel if you're looking for something fluffy and not too heavy. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a sweet story about two people finding love in an unexpected situation. However, be aware of the male lead's potentially problematic behavior and the female lead's immaturity. If you can overlook these flaws, you might find this to be an enjoyable and lighthearted read.
