Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku "Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku" (Magical Girl Raising Project) is a series that dives headfirst into the darker side of the magical girl trope, and after spending some time with it, I can see why it has garnered a dedicated following. It’s a wild ride, full of surprises and a willingness to break the mold. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. It's not just rainbows and friendship bracelets here; things get real, and real fast. The story throws you into a world where being a magical girl isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the stakes are incredibly high. ### What Works Well One of the strongest aspects is the sheer variety of characters and their unique abilities. It keeps things fresh and allows for some truly creative and strategic battles. I appreciate that the author isn't afraid to kill off characters, which adds a genuine sense of tension and makes every encounter feel meaningful. The plot is engaging, and I love that each arc introduces new characters and settings, building upon the previous ones. The multiple points of view also give a great sense of perspective on events. I particularly admire how each volume feels like its own contained story while still contributing to the overarching narrative. ### Areas of Concern I do have a few reservations. The first few volumes can be a bit slow to get into, and some might find the constant introduction and elimination of characters jarring. I also felt that sometimes the deaths felt a little contrived. It's one thing to have characters die, but it's another to have them die in ways that feel like they're only there for shock value. Also, with so many characters, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone, which can disrupt the flow of reading. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some might find the constant battle royale format repetitive across volumes. Also, there is a particular scene in the first book where the villain is defeated at the end. ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, "Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku" is a series I would recommend, especially if you're a fan of dark magical girl stories. It's a unique and exciting take on the genre, with plenty of action, suspense, and unexpected twists. Just be prepared for a high body count and don't get too attached to anyone! I am giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
