As he tries to make the best of his undead life, he encounters a Masō-Shōjo (魔装少女?, lit. Magical Garment Girl, a pun on “mahō shōjo”, magical girl) named Haruna and inadvertently takes her magic powers, being forced to become a Masō-Shōjo (and thereby crossdress) in the process. With Eucliwood, Haruna, and a vampire ninja named Seraphim living with him, Ayumu helps battle demons known as Megalos while trying to figure out the mystery behind his own death.

Kore wa Zombie desu ka? Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Kore wa Zombie desu ka? Okay, so I finally dove into "Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" and I have some thoughts! This series has been on my radar for a while, given its pretty high rating and the buzz around its anime adaptation. It's definitely a wild ride, blending a ton of genres, so buckle up. ### First Impressions Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed. The sheer number of tags – action, comedy, ecchi, fantasy, harem, mystery, school life, seinen, slice of life, *and* supernatural – made me wonder if it would be a chaotic mess. But after a few chapters, I found myself surprisingly hooked. The premise is absurd, but it's delivered with such commitment that it's hard not to be entertained. You really just need to accept the weirdness and roll with it. ### What Works Well The comedy is definitely the strongest element here. It's over-the-top, ridiculous, and often relies on the bizarre situations the main character finds himself in. The story really doesn't take itself seriously, which is a huge part of its charm. The characters, while tropey at times, are memorable and contribute to the overall comedic effect. I found myself laughing out loud more than once, which is always a good sign. I found the blend of genres to be well done and not too overpowering. ### Areas of Concern Honestly, the biggest issue I encountered was the translation status. Knowing that the original series is complete but the English translation is still ongoing is a bit frustrating. It's hard to fully invest in a series when you know you might have to wait a long time to see how it all wraps up. While the comedy is great, I can see how some might find it repetitive or even grating after a while. If you're not a fan of ecchi or harem elements, this might not be the series for you, as they are pretty prominent. ### Final Verdict Despite some minor gripes, I found "Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" to be a genuinely entertaining read. It's not going to win any awards for literary brilliance, but it's a solid choice if you're looking for a lighthearted, funny, and slightly absurd series to pass the time. Just be prepared for a wild ride and a potential wait for future translations. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for something different.
