I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villainess’ Older Brother Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villainess’ Older Brother "I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villainess’ Older Brother" presents an interesting twist on the isekai formula, and overall I found it to be a pretty enjoyable read, but it wasn't without its flaws. The story follows our protagonist as he navigates his new life with the goal of preventing his sister from becoming a villainess. While there's a lot to like, some aspects might not appeal to every reader. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. The idea of a brother trying to steer his sister away from a dark fate is compelling. The early chapters focus on slice-of-life interactions and world-building, which I found charming. However, I also noticed a potential pitfall: the slow pacing. ### What Works Well One of the strongest aspects is the characterization. The author excels at portraying realistic children, making their interactions feel genuine and heartwarming. I particularly enjoyed the moments where the kids build secret bases or play with sticks like swords—it adds a layer of authenticity. The protagonist's dedication to his sister is also a driving force, and I appreciated that his "sis-con" tendencies, while sometimes over the top, are generally portrayed in a non-creepy way. The author also balances the parents being good while still showcasing their shortcomings which is a unique touch. ### Areas of Concern The slow pacing, which I initially noticed, does become a recurring issue. The story spends a significant amount of time on the characters' childhood, and some readers might find it repetitive or lacking in significant plot development. Another point that might be off-putting for some is the intensity of the protagonist's sister complex. While it's played for comedic effect, it can feel excessive at times, and I can see how it could make some readers uncomfortable. Some also take issue with the MC's decisions feeling inconsistent with his supposed age and maturity, and the character development can feel stagnant at times. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have expressed concerns about a specific event where the protagonist confronts the Crown Prince. The reaction to this event and the lack of consequences might strain credibility for some. ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, I think "I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villainess’ Older Brother" is a worthwhile read if you enjoy slow-paced, character-driven stories with a focus on family dynamics. Just be aware that the "sis-con" element is prominent, and the plot progression can be slow at times. If you're looking for a quick, action-packed isekai, this might not be for you. However, if you appreciate well-written characters and heartwarming moments, then I recommend giving it a try.
