One day, the protagonist, who worked at a so-called “black company” doing simple tasks of typing text from early morning to late at night, died of exhaustion due to lack of sleep. He overworked himself and deprived himself of sleep. Then, he found himself back 20 years ago, when he was six years old.
A familiar house, his youthful parents, and his youthful body.
In the midst of the nostalgic scenery, he saw something that looked like a status window you see in every game.
It showed his status, level, and skills.
“I’ve got skills! What? What are ‘Muscle Strengthening’ and ‘Magic Strengthening’?”
“The more I train, the more it shows up in the numbers, it’s so fun!”
“If I keep training like this, before I know it, I’ll become too strong.”
A High School student.

## My Thoughts on In My Second Life, I Could See My Skills, so the More I Trained, the More Peerless I Became
This title is quite a mouthful, and after diving into the novel, the experience was... mixed, to say the least. While there are elements that held my attention, some significant drawbacks ultimately kept me from fully enjoying the journey.
### First Impressions
Initially, I found the premise intriguing: a reincarnation story where the protagonist can see his skills and rapidly improve. The early chapters hooked me with the promise of accelerated growth and a cute romantic subplot. I was ready for some classic wish fulfillment!
### What Works Well
The early focus on self-improvement and the budding romance between the MC and his past-life crush were definite highlights. I appreciated the MC's initial drive and the light-hearted tone of the story. The power-couple dynamic was also a plus, especially the early development of their relationship without resorting to overly explicit content. It's refreshing to see a romance that builds naturally, even amidst the dungeon crawling and stat-gaining.
### Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the novel stumbles as it progresses. The power scaling quickly becomes absurd, with stats reaching quadrillions and beyond. This level of power creep made it difficult for me to stay invested, as the challenges felt increasingly meaningless. The plot seemed to lose direction around chapter 30, with the MC's motivations becoming unclear and his connections with other characters fading. The translation quality also proved to be a major issue, with inconsistencies and errors making it difficult to follow the story at times.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Several reviewers mentioned significant spoilers regarding the ending, particularly concerning the portrayal of God as an antagonist. Apparently, the MC ends up defeating God, who is depicted as a combination of various religious figures. This plot point might be offensive to some readers, so proceed with caution. There are also mentions of the MC and his girlfriend wanting to do naughty things when they are only 13 years of age.
### Final Verdict
"In My Second Life..." had the potential to be a fun, escapist read. However, the combination of excessive power creep, a meandering plot, and translation issues ultimately detracted from my enjoyment. While the early romance and initial premise were appealing, the novel's flaws make it difficult to recommend wholeheartedly. If you're looking for a quick, light-hearted read and can overlook its shortcomings, it might be worth a try. Otherwise, there are better options available.
