I’ll Still Love You Even if You’re a Man 2 Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on I’ll Still Love You Even if You’re a Man 2 Having thoroughly enjoyed "I'll Still Love You Even if You're a Man," I dove into the sequel, eager to see how An Ziyan and Mai Ding's relationship would evolve as they navigated the challenges of adulthood. While I appreciate the attempt to explore a more mature phase of their lives, I found myself somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. ### First Impressions The initial chapters felt promising, setting the stage for a realistic portrayal of post-college life and the struggles of entering the workforce. I was ready to see our beloved couple tackle new obstacles together. ### What Works Well The novel certainly attempts to tackle heavier themes, such as grief and the pressures of professional life. I found An Ziyan's struggle with his grandfather's death to be genuinely moving. Mai Ding's support during this difficult time showcased a deeper level of emotional maturity in their relationship. These moments of vulnerability and raw emotion were definitely highlights for me. ### Areas of Concern My primary issue lies in the shift in tone. The lightheartedness and humor that made the first novel so endearing seemed to have been significantly diminished. I felt that Mai Ding was subjected to an excessive amount of negativity, both from his colleagues and, surprisingly, from An Ziyan himself. The constant stream of insults and belittling remarks felt tiresome and, frankly, not very cute. Furthermore, I was left wanting more in terms of the couple's public acknowledgment of their relationship. The fact that their marriage remained a secret throughout the entire novel felt like a missed opportunity for character development and satisfying resolution. I was really hoping to see An Ziyan proudly claim Mai Ding as his own, or for Mai Ding to accidentally reveal their secret to their coworkers, but it never happened. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning (Highlight to reveal) The lack of public acknowledgment of their relationship, even marriage, was a major letdown. The death of Grandpa An was a touching, though sad, plot point. ### Final Verdict While "I’ll Still Love You Even if You’re a Man 2" has its moments of emotional depth, the overall shift in tone and the lack of satisfying relationship development left me feeling underwhelmed. If you adored the first novel for its fluff and humor, you might find this sequel a bit of a letdown. I'd recommend approaching it with tempered expectations.
