Description

Lu Shizhen transmigrates into a novel as a villainess who covets the heroine and is bound to a system called ‘Heaven Gives Me Another Chance.’ In the novel, the heroine Xu Shiyue was once a favored daughter of heaven but was betrayed by her uncle, leading to her parents’ deaths and her own blindness. The villainess, who had long coveted Xu Shiyue, takes advantage of her vulnerability, promising protection but ultimately revealing her true colors. The heroine, turned into a ‘Black Moonlight,’ cripples the villainess and leaves her to die in a fire. Facing the now-blind Xu Shiyue in her original character’s home, Lu Shizhen and her system fall silent. Lu Shizhen: ‘Is there any hope?’ System: ‘Let’s give it a try.’ Determined to change the tragic fate, Lu Shizhen rolls up her sleeves and decides to turn the tide. She brings in top doctors to treat Xu Shiyue’s blindness and provides the best guide dog. Whatever Xu Shiyue needs, Lu Shizhen is willing to give, even if it means plucking the moon from the sky. People say Lu Shizhen is a capricious madwoman, but to Xu Shiyue, she becomes the only person she can rely on in her blurred vision. Finally, Lu Shizhen reaches the end of her storyline. On the night Xu Shiyue takes over the Xu family, Lu Shizhen fakes her death with the system’s help and escapes to enjoy a new life. That night, the ruthless Xu family heiress stands in the snow, staring at the charred corpse, her eyes red like a mad dog. Rumors spread that Xu Shiyue hated the madwoman who imprisoned her so much that she scattered her ashes without even a grave. Passing by, Lu Shizhen loses her appetite for her dumplings and quietly moves her retirement plans further away. Years later, Lu Shizhen hears that the guide dog she gave Xu Shiyue is dying and quietly returns to her original home, only to run into Xu Shiyue, who shouldn’t still be living there. On a quiet spring night, the sound of the door locking is particularly clear. Xu Shiyue: ‘Where do you think you’re going?’

I Swear I Didn’t Covet the Black Moonlight Heroine Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on I Swear I Didn’t Covet the Black Moonlight Heroine ### First Impressions "I Swear I Didn’t Covet the Black Moonlight Heroine" immediately pulled me in with its intriguing title and the promise of a shoujo ai transmigration story. The premise alone was enough to pique my interest, and I went in hoping for a captivating romance with a supernatural twist. From the start, it was clear this novel had a devoted following, and I was excited to see what all the buzz was about. ### What Works Well What struck me most was the immersive quality of the storytelling. I found myself completely invested in Lu Shizhen's journey as she navigated her new reality and built a relationship with Xu Shiyue. The slow-burn romance was particularly well done, allowing me to truly appreciate the development of their bond. The author excelled at portraying the characters' emotional turmoil and growth, leading to many touching and even heartbreaking moments. The interactions between Lu Shizhen and her family were a highlight, especially since they remained relevant throughout the story, which is a refreshing change from many transmigration novels where family members often fade into the background. The blend of humor, sweetness, and angst created a rollercoaster of emotions that kept me thoroughly engaged. ### Areas of Concern While I generally enjoyed the novel, the ending felt somewhat drawn out. The extended conflict with the Lord God, while intended to build tension, became a bit repetitive and detracted from the overall pacing. The constant cycle of attempting to defeat her, facing setbacks, and then trying again felt like it prolonged the story unnecessarily. While I appreciated the author's attempt to create a dramatic climax, it ultimately made the ending feel less impactful than it could have been. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning *Proceed with caution, as this section contains spoilers!* I agree that the scene where Xu Shiyue confronts the Lord God with the rose was a memorable and powerful moment. However, I also felt that the fight itself felt a bit disconnected from the core narrative. Additionally, I couldn't help but wonder about the fate of Lu Shizhen's original family, particularly her sister Lu Xi. Their relationship seemed significant, and I was left feeling slightly unfulfilled by the lack of closure regarding their story after Lu Shizhen's departure. ### Final Verdict Despite some pacing issues towards the end, "I Swear I Didn’t Covet the Black Moonlight Heroine" is a compelling and emotionally resonant read. The well-developed characters, engaging plot, and satisfying romantic arc make it a worthwhile experience for fans of the yuri, drama, and supernatural genres. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating modern transmigration story with a strong focus on character development and emotional depth.
