Description

1 The Alpha bigshot of the Federal Military, Huo Yan, took a liking to that obedient and submissive pretty little plaything. No matter how Huo Yan treated him as less than human, he only lowered his snowy white neck, obediently kneeling on the ground, removing Huo Yan’s shoes and socks upon his late-night return, timely offering warm and palatable hangover soup. What a convenient little plaything, Huo Yan thought. Until one day, Huo Yan suddenly realized that he had the ability to hear others’ thoughts. Upon returning home, the pretty Omega approached, gently and humbly kneeling as usual to remove his shoes and socks. However, Huo Yan heard a deeply annoyed sound from him, [“Tsk.”]……Huo Yan’s face turned ashen, he restrained himself, holding him to sleep. Although the Omega had a shy and delighted expression, that intensely repulsed voice in his heart struck his eardrums even more fiercely.[“This frantic dog in heat!”] Huo Yan: ? …… Huo Yan’s face turned ashen, he restrained himself, holding him to sleep. Although the Omega had a shy and delighted expression, that intensely repulsed voice in his heart struck his eardrums even more fiercely. 2 Huo Yan raised the chin of the pretty Omega with his polished shoes, his lips curling with disdain, “Are you willing to do anything for me?” The seemingly harmless thistle flower nodded docilely, forming a stark contrast with the gritted-teeth thought. The self-assured Huo Yan smiled. He played with this wild and unmanageable pretty plaything between his fingers, like a cat toying with a mouse, planning to torture it to the brink before ruthlessly crushing this fake and deceptive plaything! He was too impatient to witness the despair in his eyes. Unexpectedly, when the thistle flower turned its head, it tore off a chunk of his flesh. 3 The clown turned out to be himself (Huo Yan), a dog Gong self-biography. Honest Wife Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Honest Wife "Honest Wife" is quite the rollercoaster, a novel that left me with a lot to unpack. It's a blend of genres, tackling heavy themes within an ABO world, and while it has moments of brilliance, it also stumbles in its execution. ### First Impressions Initially, I was intrigued. The premise of omegas being marginalized and the MC fighting for their rights felt compelling. The early chapters drew me in with the promise of a complex plot and morally grey characters. I was ready for some intense drama, and "Honest Wife" certainly delivered on that front. ### What Works Well The characterization of the MC, Wen Mo, is a definite high point. I found him intelligent and his actions logical, given the messed-up world he inhabits. He's not overpowered, but he's resilient, and his struggles felt real. The exploration of freedom and the cages we willingly enter was thought-provoking. I also appreciated the raw emotion conveyed, particularly during Wen Mo's outbursts towards the ML. The author clearly knows how to tug at your heartstrings. ### Areas of Concern However, the novel's ambition seems to be its downfall. It felt like the author tried to juggle too many plot threads without fully committing to any of them. The shifting focus made the story feel disjointed at times. The ML's initial behavior is also a major sticking point. While character growth is expected, his actions cross a line for me, making it difficult to root for his redemption. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning The following section contains spoilers about the plot and ending. Reader discretion is advised. One major issue I had was with the ending. Wen Mo's final moments felt unnecessary and didn't add anything meaningful to the overall narrative. It felt like padding, adding to the tragedy without serving a purpose. The ML's attempts at redemption also felt insufficient, considering the extent of his past actions. ### Final Verdict "Honest Wife" is an ambitious but flawed novel. While the MC's character and the exploration of societal themes are commendable, the disjointed plot and problematic ML hold it back. It's a heart-wrenching read that will leave you pondering the complexities of freedom and survival, but be prepared for a bumpy ride. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
