Description

Rong Jing is an easy-going person. After transmigrating into a book, he tries his best to avoid the inevitable ending of a cannon fodder. Instead of provoking the book’s protagonist, he quietly stays as an Alpha though he is actually a heavenly dish within the circle. The protagonist in the book is a heartthrob omega. He is born into a poor family but is constantly striving to improve himself. He’s talented and all, like he basically has a cheat in life. His career is very important to him. Lots of big shots are attracted to him and want to bow down to him because of his bewitching pheromones. The more they like him… the crazier and more pe*verted they become. Rong Jing didn’t finish reading the book so he wasn’t aware that this book is a wicked revenge story and that the protagonist suffered because of his beauty. Then one day, he got drunk on those very same fascinating pheromones all night. The next day, as he watched the crying, red-eyed protagonist, he proposed to work hard to learn how to be a good financial backer for him for one year. A year later, when he decided to break up with him for good, the protagonist slapped him with their agreement. Even his fans scolded him fiercely saying that he should take responsibility. Hold on! So was he only acting innocent?!

Hold On, You’re Something Else Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on *Hold On, You’re Something Else* *Hold On, You’re Something Else* is quite the rollercoaster of a novel, blending drama, fantasy, romance, and a healthy dose of psychological intrigue. It's a story that definitely kept me on my toes, and while it has some fantastic elements, it also stumbles in a few places. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the unique premise: a transmigration into an ABO world with a sadomasochistic plotline. The idea of a straight-laced alpha MC navigating this new reality, especially with its six gendered bathrooms, had me chuckling. It felt fresh and offered a lot of potential for interesting character dynamics. ### What Works Well What truly shines in this novel is the relationship between the MC, Rong Jing, and the ML, Gu Xi. Their dynamic is a breath of fresh air. I appreciated the slow-burn romance and the fact that their connection wasn't solely based on pheromones. Rong Jing's respectful nature and genuine care for Gu Xi were heartwarming. The lack of misunderstandings between them was also a huge plus. I particularly loved that Rong Jing didn't treat Gu Xi specially just because he's the ML. Their relationship felt earned and organic. The MC himself is a standout. He's a gentleman, respectful to everyone, and his reactions to the transmigration feel realistic. I also found him relatable. He's not an overpowered Gary Stu, but a genuinely good person trying to navigate a bizarre new world. I also enjoyed the side characters, especially Rong Jing's brother, Xie Ling. His tsundere personality and hidden warmth added depth to the story. ### Areas of Concern While I enjoyed many aspects, the novel isn't without its flaws. The plot can get convoluted, with some novel magic that feels a bit too convenient. Some plot threads are left dangling, and characters who initially seem important fade into the background. The villains, while present, sometimes lack compelling motivations beyond pheromone-induced obsession. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning The ending seems to be a point of contention for many readers. The final extra, which throws the MC and ML into the real world with amnesia, struck me as jarring and unsatisfying. It felt like a disservice to the characters' development and the relationships they built throughout the story. Also, the treatment of Wu Fuyu felt off. While he was a problematic character, turning him into a comedic joke after his "gay awakening" felt tonally inconsistent and a bit uncomfortable. ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, *Hold On, You’re Something Else* is an enjoyable read, largely thanks to the charming MC and the sweet, slow-burn romance. The unique premise and interesting side characters also add to its appeal. However, be prepared for a somewhat messy plot and a potentially divisive ending. Overall, I'd recommend it with reservations.
