One of the top expert killers, tired of endless assassinations and having survived a cruel and suppressed life, decided to escape the world’s strictest assassin organization. A chance came during one of the nights when the organization was least prepared, and he fled. However, he discovered that the night he escaped was the night when the organization had sent out many experts and ability type users to capture a phoenix weakened by its rebirth. Eventually, when surrounded and knowing that his situation was hopeless, he desperately shot at the ability user blocking his way. This helped the phoenix break out of the encirclement and grant him his one and only wish – freedom. The assassin’s soul was sent back to his ten year old self. He woke up at a point in time that would allow him to drastically change his fate – he killed the two assassins that picked him up and brought him to the organization. Thus, he began a brand new life. Two naive little girls and one experienced boy living together and filling their days with warm memories of childhood…

Hidden Assassin Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Hidden Assassin "Hidden Assassin" is a web novel that definitely left me with mixed feelings, but overall, I found it to be a worthwhile read. It's a story about a reincarnated assassin trying to live a peaceful life, but constantly getting pulled back into the world he left behind. The blend of action, romance, and slice-of-life elements creates a unique experience, although it's not without its shortcomings. ### First Impressions Initially, I was intrigued by the premise. A world-weary assassin getting a second chance at life? Sign me up! The early chapters drew me in with the promise of a protagonist trying to navigate a normal life while keeping his deadly skills hidden. It had the potential to be a compelling character study mixed with thrilling action sequences. ### What Works Well Many readers praised the world-building, specifically the vivid descriptions of '80s and '90s China. I found myself immersed in the setting, and the author's attention to detail really brought the world to life. The action scenes are also well-written, fluid, and exciting. The romantic subplot is a strong point, and I appreciated that the harem elements, while present, felt somewhat justified within the story's context. Also, the pacing is quite fast, making it an easy read. ### Areas of Concern However, the novel isn't without its flaws. Some readers felt that the protagonist's insistence on hiding his abilities, even in dangerous situations, stretched believability. I can see that, as it sometimes felt contrived and frustrating. A few reviewers also pointed out instances of what they perceived as nationalistic sentiments and questionable portrayals of other cultures. While I didn't find it overly offensive, it's definitely something to be aware of going in. The ending, while appreciated by some, was also described as rushed and weird. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Be warned, some reviews mention spoilers regarding the protagonist's relationships and certain plot developments. Specifically, there's discussion about a tomboy girl sleeping with the protagonist's girlfriend and a pregnancy later in the story, and the rushed nature of the ending. Read at your own discretion! ### Final Verdict Despite its flaws, I'd still recommend giving "Hidden Assassin" a try. It's a fast-paced and engaging read with a unique premise and well-developed world. While some aspects may not appeal to everyone, the overall experience is enjoyable, especially if you're a fan of action, romance, and slice-of-life stories with a touch of the supernatural. Just be aware of the potential for some questionable cultural portrayals and a rushed ending.
