Description

At 22 years old, Jiang Chenyu has just graduated and taken over a supermarket. At the same time, his biological parents have come forward, claiming that he is the true young master of the Lu family from Rong Province. Looking at his insincere biological parents and the faux young master pretending to be innocent beside them, Jiang Chenyu thinks of the substantial inheritance left by his Master and waves his hand dismissively—whether he is the true young master or not doesn’t matter; he is now Jiang, not Lu! The Lu family never expected that their own son would rather cling to this shabby supermarket than return home. In a fit of anger, they turned and left, thinking that once this child faces hardships in society, he will understand the benefits of wealth. Meanwhile, the faux young master secretly mocks Jiang Chenyu’s naivety, who believes that a broken supermarket is more important than anything else! However, within less than a year, the reputation of this small, shabby supermarket grew louder and louder. — The long-barren couple of a movie star gave birth to a healthy child. — The father of soybeans and was tormented by cancer, miraculously recovered overnight. — A military family, cursed for generations not to live past 35, finally broke the curse. — A police officer, who was tortured to the point of losing his sight, regained his vision. As long as customers have enough merit, this supermarket can trade for anything! Do good people not live long? Jiang Chenyu insists that good people should live peacefully and securely. Some tried to throw money at him and force Jiang Chenyu to make a deal, but the end result was always being spat out by the supermarket. Jiang Chenyu sat on the daybed while cracking sunflower seeds and mocking, “Haven’t I said it a hundred times? Want to trade? Fine, bring me merit!” Just as the Lu couple was conflicted about whether to apologize, Hua Guo arrived even faster and reached an agreement for friendly cooperation with Jiang Chenyu. Seeing the pale-faced couple, Jiang Chenyu felt a surge of joy in his heart. He had no interest in playing the game of true and false young masters; could the richest man in Rong Province compare to the might of Hua Guo’s father? ———— Jiang Chenyu kept a man named Mr. Bell. Mr. Bell was quite useful; although a bit dull, he stood at 1.9 meters tall with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a muscular chest. He had looks and strength, serving as a bodyguard to protect Jiang Chenyu and cooking meals to feed him. Of course, the biggest advantage was that he was free! Huo Yunxi: It’s not entirely free… Jiang Chenyu: Huh??? You want a salary? Huo Yunxi: Just feed me well… It wasn’t until Jiang Chenyu hadn’t come out of his room for three days that he suddenly realized that this “feeding well” meant something entirely different. 🙂

Hello, Welcome to Merit Supermarket Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Hello, Welcome to Merit Supermarket This novel, "Hello, Welcome to Merit Supermarket," was quite the ride! It blends comedy, drama, romance, and the supernatural in a modern setting, and while it kept me entertained, it also had some aspects that gave me pause. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a carefree, overpowered protagonist running a supermarket that deals in merit. The concept is unique and the early chapters focusing on family drama and smaller-scale crimes were engaging. I found myself chuckling at the snarky supermarket and enjoying the interactions between the MC and ML. ### What Works Well The core strength of this novel lies in its unique premise and the dynamic between the main characters. The MC's overpowered abilities, stemming from trading merit with the supermarket, are definitely a draw. The romantic relationship is also a highlight, with a devoted love interest who has a voice that apparently makes the MC weak in the knees! The author does a decent job of balancing the lighter supermarket scenes with the more dramatic crime-solving aspects. I also appreciated the acknowledgement of corruption, even within the organizations that are supposed to be dispensing justice. ### Areas of Concern As the story progressed, I felt the shift in focus towards larger-scale crime rings detracted from the initial charm. The narrative became a bit repetitive with one crime lord after another. While I appreciate a good crime-solving duo, the increasing scale of the cases and the somewhat simplistic portrayal of everyone else as either incompetent or actively hindering the MC and ML, made it less enjoyable. The fight scenes, while followable, felt a bit underwhelming and could have been fleshed out more. I also noticed a slightly nationalistic undertone, with heavy emphasis on the merit accumulated by police and military families. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning I'm not going to go into specifics, but be aware that the MC's powers are quite significant. He is able to withstand a missile and eventually even the epicenter of a nuclear bomb. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Hello, Welcome to Merit Supermarket" is a fun and engaging read, especially if you enjoy overpowered protagonists, supernatural elements, and a good romance. However, the shift in focus towards large-scale crime, the repetitive nature of the cases, and the slightly underdeveloped fight scenes prevent it from being a truly outstanding novel. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's worth checking out if the premise appeals to you, but be prepared for some of the issues I've mentioned.
