Description

A lackluster detective and devoted mystery aficionado has met his demise. Yet, he finds himself reborn in a classic fantasy realm of swords, magic, monsters, and dungeons, all while retaining his previous life’s memories. He now goes by the name Van, a commoner with an extraordinary talent for magic and a wealth of knowledge from his past life. Despite his lowly status, Van manages to climb the ranks and make a name for himself. However, his journey takes a dark turn when an inexplicable mu*der occurs right in front of him. The victim is none other than a Dragon Eater, an immortal transcendent being. Making matters more perplexing, there exists a Prophecy Machine capable of predicting everything, yet this particular mu*der was never foreseen. The baffling question now stands: How was the transcendent being mu*dered in an event that escaped the prophecy?

Great Detective of Another World Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Great Detective of Another World ### First Impressions Okay, so "Great Detective of Another World" immediately grabbed my attention. The premise is just so refreshingly different from the usual isekai fare. Instead of another student or salaryman getting transported, we have a seasoned detective! That alone sets it apart and made me eager to dive in. The initial chapters do a solid job of establishing the world and the protagonist's mindset. I was definitely intrigued to see how his deductive skills would translate into a world of magic and demi-humans. ### What Works Well The strongest aspect of this novel, in my opinion, is its originality. The author avoids so many of the common isekai pitfalls. Our protagonist isn't suddenly overpowered, he doesn't become a lord overnight, and there's no harem forming around him. Instead, he's a commoner genuinely trying to introduce detective work to a society that doesn't really understand the concept. This grounded approach is really appealing. I also appreciate the attention to detail in the world-building. It feels like a lot of thought has gone into creating a believable and immersive setting. The mysteries themselves are well-crafted, and I found myself genuinely trying to solve them alongside the protagonist. It's a real treat for anyone who enjoys a good puzzle. ### Areas of Concern Honestly, my only real concern is the pacing. Sometimes, the story can feel a little slow as it meticulously sets the stage for future mysteries. While I appreciate the world-building, there are moments when I wished the plot would move forward a bit faster. However, this is a minor quibble, and I'm confident that the pacing will improve as the story progresses. ### Final Verdict "Great Detective of Another World" is a breath of fresh air in the isekai genre. Its unique premise, grounded protagonist, and well-crafted mysteries make it a truly enjoyable read. If you're tired of the same old isekai tropes and looking for something a bit different, I highly recommend giving this novel a try. I'm definitely hooked and eager to see where the story goes next.
