器用貧乏、城を建てる ~開拓学園の劣等生なのに、上級職のスキルと魔法がすべて使えます~
Original Japanese Title
Also known as: Kiyoubinbou, Jou wo Tateru - Kaitaku Gakuen no Rettousei na no ni, Joukyuu-Shoku no Skill to Mahou ga Subete Tsukaemasu, 器用貧乏、城を建てる ~開拓学園の劣等生なのに、上級職のスキルと魔法がすべて使えます~
The boy Leopin was born with unnaturally high dexterity. From an early age, he used his dexterity to contribute to his peers in a variety of crafts. Leopin and his friends entered the Royal Pioneer Academy. However, during the “Ritual of Ability Development” at the entrance ceremony, the status given to Leopin was disastrous.
“Occupation: Unemployed.”
“All statuses except dexterity remain at their initial values and do not grow.”
“Skills are poor dexterity*.”
Leopin’s classmates exiled him because he had nothing to offer other than his dexterity. Leopin is placed in the “Special Training Class”, a class for failures. Leopin is left all alone. However, he realizes that the skill he has been given, “Poor Dexterity,” has an unexpected performance. That is…
You can convert your dexterity status to any other status. You can change your occupation to any one you want.
The first thing Leopin did was to become a lumberjack. First, Leopin changed his job to “Lumberjack” to get wood from the forest. He then became a carpenter and built the most magnificent house of all. He became an Appraiser to identify rare items, and a Battle Axe User to fight off students from other classes who tried to attack him. Become a Ranger to explore dungeons and a Ninja to get through traps with ease.
Leopin, alone (solo), had gained enough power to do everything.
As Leopin continues to be a warrior, he is adored by his childhood friend, a saint, and admired by a beautiful alchemist, and his activities become even more well known. On the other hand, the classmates who expelled Leopin regret their decision to do so when they witness Leopin’s abilities.
Their home remains a shack, they are unable to explore, and they gradually lose their place in the school and are ruined.
*Explanation: the skill is not “poor dexterity”, but “dexterous poor”, which is the japanese equivalent to a Jack of all trades, master of none; since they can do a bit of everything, they are “dexterous”, but since they have mastered none, they supposedly cannot make a living from it, hence they are “poor”.

## My Thoughts on Exiled in a Class Trial for “Poor Dexterity”. Because He Was Dexterous, He Lived on His Own. Because of His Dexterity, He Was Able to Use All the Skills and Magic of the Higher Ranks, Making Him Invincible. I Decided to Live on My Own, but the People Around Me Wouldn’t Leave Me Alone.
Okay, that title is a mouthful, isn't it? This web novel promises a specific kind of power fantasy, and based on my read-through, it... delivers, in its own special way. It’s not a story I’d recommend for its deep plot or complex characters, but it definitely has a certain something that kept me turning the page.
### First Impressions
Honestly, the premise is ridiculous. Our MC is deemed useless because his stats are "low," except for his dexterity, which is through the roof. The world logic is stretched to its breaking point, and the synopsis basically spoils the first few chapters. However, I quickly realized that approaching this novel with a serious mindset is a recipe for frustration. It's best enjoyed with your brain turned off, ready for some over-the-top situations.
### What Works Well
The sheer absurdity of the story is its biggest strength. The antagonists are cartoonishly evil, and their plans are so dumb that they're hilarious. The MC's constant acquisition of convenient new skills and the devotion he inspires in the female characters adds to the wish-fulfillment aspect. If you're looking for a light, funny read that doesn't require much thought, this might be right up your alley. I found myself laughing at how ridiculous it all was.
### Areas of Concern
The simplicity that makes the novel enjoyable also leads to its biggest weaknesses. The characters are, to put it mildly, shallow. The male characters seem to exist solely to hate the MC, while the female characters fall for him instantly. The plot follows a predictable formula: MC is ridiculed, MC overcomes the challenge with his overpowered abilities, repeat. This can get repetitive, and the lack of character depth makes it hard to invest emotionally. Also, the harem elements aren't handled with much finesse, falling into tired clichés.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have expressed frustration with the MC's forgiveness of those who wronged him, particularly a certain "friend" whose prolonged flashback arc tested their patience. This seems to be a turning point for some, leading to them dropping the series.
### Final Verdict
"Exiled in a Class Trial…" is a guilty pleasure, plain and simple. It's not high art, and it's not going to win any awards for originality. But if you're in the mood for some mindless fun and don't mind a healthy dose of absurdity, give it a try. Just remember to leave your expectations at the door and prepare to laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. I'd give it a generous 3/5 – it knows what it is, and it delivers on that promise, even if that promise is a bit... silly.
