Everlasting Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Everlasting "Everlasting" is a web novel that I approached with cautious optimism, given its mixed reception. It’s a xianxia story with familiar elements: a male protagonist who starts as an underdog, cultivation, beasts, and a journey from weak to strong. While it has its moments, the overall experience left me wanting more. ### First Impressions Initially, the story pulled me in with its classic setup. An orphan in a cultivation world, a kind elder who suffers a tragic fate, and a protagonist driven by revenge – it's a formula that has worked well in the genre. However, as I delved deeper, I found myself struggling to connect with the main character or the world around him. ### What Works Well I can certainly see the appeal for readers seeking a casual, undemanding read. The translation quality is definitely a strong point, making the experience smooth and easy to follow. The action scenes are well-elaborated, and the story's continuity flows well, making it easy to get lost in the moment. For newcomers to the xianxia genre, or those simply looking to relax, "Everlasting" might offer a decent entry point. Some readers found the villains and "cannon fodder" to be realistically motivated, which added a layer of intrigue. ### Areas of Concern Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives for me. The protagonist often comes across as whiny and frustratingly dense. His reliance on plot armor and convenient power-ups made it difficult to invest in his journey. The world-building felt shallow, with crucial details about cultivation realms and character motivations often glossed over. The plot itself frequently felt illogical, with the MC making questionable decisions that undermined any sense of strategic thinking. While the story has moments of intrigue, these problems made it hard for me to fully invest in the story. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have pointed out that later in the story, the MC's "tower" becomes overly powerful, trivializing any sense of threat. An immortal is even captured and turned into a blood essence machine, which some found to be a step too far. ### Final Verdict "Everlasting" has the potential to be a decent time-killer if you're not looking for anything too deep or unique. If you are a more seasoned reader or prefer stories with complex characters, intricate world-building, and logically consistent plots, then this novel might not be for you. Ultimately, it's a mixed bag that caters to a specific audience. I'd recommend approaching it with tempered expectations.
