A group of tomb raiders accidentally opened Pandora’s Box and strange energy instantly flooded the entire Earth, causing mutations in plants, animals, and humans. Countless people died and they then turned into living dead…
Xu Song felt that before leaving, he should have checked the almanac. First, he narrowly escaped being silenced by the tomb raiders, and after escaping, he encountered an attack from a “resurrected” ancient corpse. It wasn’t until he unintentionally emitted a small fireball that he felt his luck had barely turned.
Then, Xu Song together with Yue Zheng, who finally managed to escape from the tomb at the top of the mountain, were dumbfounded. What’s with these eggplants taller than children and cucumbers thicker than small trees?!
Extra:A journey of two straight men bending each other in the post-apocalyptic world. Also, this is not a typical zombie story. The ‘zombies/living corpses’ mentioned in this text have completely different origins from zombies, and there will be an explanation later in the text.

## My Thoughts on End of the Era
"End of the Era" promised a thrilling blend of action, adventure, and a touch of the supernatural in a post-apocalyptic world, and while it delivered on some fronts, it also stumbled in others. Here's my take after diving into this completed web novel.
### First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the premise: a world overrun by mutated creatures and zombies, forcing humanity to adapt and fight for survival. The early chapters painted a vivid picture of this dangerous new reality, and I was eager to see how the main characters, MC and ML, would navigate this chaotic landscape. The addition of adopted children and pets also seemed like a charming twist, adding a slice-of-life element to the grim setting.
### What Works Well
The dynamic between the characters is definitely a highlight. I found myself enjoying the family interactions, especially the heartwarming moments between the MC, ML, and their adopted children. The romance, while perhaps a bit cliché with the doting gong and sweet shou dynamic, was a welcome addition to the story. Many readers will appreciate the author's world-building, creating a novel quite different from other apocalyptic stories. The pacing is also great, making for a fun read. The translation is also very well done.
### Areas of Concern
However, as I continued reading, I noticed some recurring issues that detracted from my enjoyment. Several plot points seemed to be abandoned or forgotten, leaving me with unanswered questions and a sense of incompleteness. I also felt that the author's portrayal of women was somewhat lacking, with few strong female characters taking an active role in combat or leadership.
Another concern was the characterization of the MC. Some found the MC to be feminized, which caused discomfort. Others found the MC to be selfish.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers pointed out that the author seems to hand everything to the main characters, and that they don't face many challenges. One reader also mentioned a scene where the 6 year old children murdered two women, and the ML just smirked as he looked at their dead bodies.
### Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "End of the Era" offers an enjoyable read for those who appreciate a blend of action, family dynamics, and a touch of romance in a post-apocalyptic setting. While the story may not be perfect, its unique elements and engaging characters make it a worthwhile experience, especially if you're a fan of the author's other works. I'd recommend going into it with tempered expectations and focusing on the aspects that resonate with you most.
