Description

Don’t know since when there was a box inside the elevator in the corridor. An ordinary cardboard box, a bit large, placed neatly against the wall in the corner of the elevator and occupied nearly a quarter of the space. The box wasn’t sealed shut. It was dark inside, who knows what was inside of it.

Elevator Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Elevator "Elevator" is a wild ride! As someone who occasionally dips their toes into the horror genre, I found this short story to be a compelling, albeit unsettling, experience. It's a blend of psychological thriller and horror with a dash of yaoi thrown in for good measure. While it's not perfect, the story definitely left an impression. ### First Impressions The premise immediately grabbed me: a DJ starts experiencing strange occurrences and apparitions, leading him down a rabbit hole of paranoia and dread. I was intrigued by the promise of a twisted plot and the exploration of the MC's unraveling sanity. I quickly found myself swept up in the suspense, eager to see where the story would take me. ### What Works Well The strongest aspect of "Elevator" is its ability to build tension. I felt like I was right there with the MC, slowly losing my grip on reality. The plot is undeniably gripping, and the author does a fantastic job of creating a sense of unease and dread. Many readers praised the plot twist, and I have to agree – it definitely caught me off guard! The pacing is also well-managed, ensuring that the story remains engaging throughout its short length. For a quick, disturbing read, it hits the mark. The author also does a great job organizing the flow of the story, making it easy to follow despite its dark and twisted nature. ### Areas of Concern Despite the many things I enjoyed, there were a few areas where "Elevator" fell short for me. The ending, in particular, felt rushed and somewhat vague. I was left with several unanswered questions about the MC's final state of mind. Also, I noticed the reviews mentioned a scene of r*pe. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, let's talk spoilers! The biggest point of contention seems to be the ending. Is it a happy ending (HE) or a bad ending (BE) for the MC? I can definitely see both sides. While the ML might get his HE, I'm not entirely convinced the MC is in a state to truly consent to, well, anything. It feels more like a bittersweet or even tragic ending for him. The plot twist involving the twins, while shocking, also felt a bit underdeveloped. ### Final Verdict Overall, I'd give "Elevator" a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's a well-written and suspenseful horror story with a shocking plot twist. However, the rushed ending and vague resolution leave something to be desired. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers and don't mind a potentially ambiguous and disturbing conclusion, then "Elevator" is definitely worth a read. Just be prepared for a dark and twisted ride!
