Description

In the summer of 1992, Shan Ming was injured during a mission and got separated from his teammates. He was lost in the vast and horrifying primitive forest on the China-Myanmar border. Relying on his rich experience in wildlife survival, he still holds absolute confidence in his ability to escape from difficulties. However, it took him double the time expected to escape from this devil’s land. The reason was that he accidentally picked up a creature that should’ve never appeared in this place – a child – a little Chinese boy. On a whim, Shan Ming picked up the child from the gates of death. As a result, he changed the fate of two people, or perhaps even more. The untraceable plane crash, the numerous crises faced by the mercenary group, the suspicions and sacrifices among the members of the group, and the ice-thin relationship with the government organization. The fear-stricken “National Weapon” project, the legendary and tragic fate of the “Dragon Blood Kins”. Huge conspiracies were hidden behind the seemingly ordinary missions and everything seemed to be connected with the child’s mysterious identity. His appearance dragged Shan Ming and his mercenary group step by step into irreparable doom… Ahem, the text above is sort of tricky. Let’s try a more relaxed version: Due to a plane crash, a five-year-old (human?) shota got lost in the primitive forest on the China-Myanmar border. He was forcibly raised by a Chinese member of an international mercenary group. Since falling into the hands of this inhuman mercenary, the shota has completely bid farewell to his delicate childhood and begun his painful ripening. When other five-year-old shotas were acting mushy gushy in their mothers’ arms, he had been forced to learn how to shoot a headshot. When other seven-year-olds were held in the palm of their parents’ hands, he had to solo the pe*verted killer who lusted after him. When other ten-year-olds were still innocently crushing on their female deskmate, he had already followed his foster father, who had no lower limit to his morality, into and out of the colorful brothels in Las Vegas. After being under the influence of his foster father for a long time, the naive little shota finally became abnormal… So this is the story of a delicate young master who has been bullied and cruelly trained since childhood. One who eventually grew up to be a black-bellied cold-blooded mercenary and successfully overpowered his despicable foster father that always treated him like reserve food and ordered him around like a dog.

Dragon Blood Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Dragon Blood "Dragon Blood" is a wild ride, and I can definitely see why it's earned a dedicated fanbase. It's not your typical fluffy romance; it's a gritty, action-packed story with morally gray characters and a relationship that's... complicated, to say the least. I found myself hooked by the unique premise and the author's willingness to explore unconventional dynamics. ### First Impressions Going in, I expected a fairly standard "raising a cute kid" story that veered into romance. What I got was something far more twisted and interesting. The initial dynamic between Shen Ming, our mercenary MC, and Shan Changze, the child he picks up, is far from heartwarming. It's harsh, bordering on abusive, and sets the stage for a very unusual relationship. ### What Works Well The biggest strength of "Dragon Blood" is its world and the characters within it. The mercenary setting feels authentic and brutal, and I appreciated the presence of strong female characters alongside the male leads. Shen Ming is a fascinating protagonist – flawed, selfish, and unapologetically himself. He's not trying to be a good person, and that's what makes him so compelling. The action scenes are also incredibly well-written, vividly bringing the battles to life. Many readers seem to agree, praising the detailed descriptions and the overall pacing of the story. I thought the story had a good balance of plot and romance. ### Areas of Concern The relationship between Shen Ming and Shan Changze is definitely a potential sticking point. The age gap and pseudo-incestuous dynamic might be off-putting to some, and I can understand why. There's also the "rape" tag to consider. While some readers argue that the scenes in question are more "forceful" than outright non-consensual, others were definitely bothered by them. I'd recommend going in with caution if these themes are triggers for you. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers were disappointed with the ending, particularly the final confrontation with the villain, feeling it lacked the intensity of earlier conflicts. Also, I've seen it mentioned that the MC doesn't transform like some may have expected. ### Final Verdict Despite its potential pitfalls, I found "Dragon Blood" to be a surprisingly engaging read. It's not perfect, and it's definitely not for everyone, but if you're looking for a dark, action-packed BL with complex characters and a unique dynamic, this might just be your cup of tea. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
