Description

Kenji Yachi (谷地健司) was laid off from the foreign company where he had worked for nearly 20 years. Now, over 40 years old, he started a part-time job at a bento shop. As he was healing from the shock of being laid off and living peacefully, Haruno (榛野) suddenly appeared before him. Haruno was an elite who had graduated from an American graduate school and was the younger boss who had coldly informed Yachi of his dismissal. Although Yachi wished to never see him again because it reminded him of the feeling of being declared incompetent, Haruno came to the shop every weekend, bought a bento, and started talking to him. What are his true intentions…?

Deep Breath Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Deep Breath "Deep Breath" promised a calming romance, and honestly, it delivered. I went in expecting a sweet story, and I wasn't disappointed. The novel focuses on a relationship that develops between a boss and his subordinate, and the way it unfolds is genuinely heartwarming. ### First Impressions From the get-go, I was drawn in by the quiet and thoughtful atmosphere. The story isn't packed with explosive drama, which was a welcome change of pace. Instead, it focuses on the subtle nuances of the characters and their growing feelings for each other. The initial setup is intriguing, and I was immediately curious to see how the relationship between Yachi and Hasuno would evolve. ### What Works Well The character development is definitely a highlight. Hasuno, the seemingly self-assured boss, has a vulnerable side that peeks through as he falls for Yachi. His moments of insecurity and slight jealousy were endearing and added depth to his character. Yachi, on the other hand, starts as somewhat naive and indifferent but gradually blossoms into a patient and passionate individual. The chemistry between them is palpable, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. The story shines in its ability to portray a realistic and loving relationship without resorting to unnecessary drama or toxic tropes. The pacing, while slow, allows for a natural progression of their feelings, making the romance feel authentic and believable. ### Areas of Concern Honestly, it's hard to find major faults with "Deep Breath." If you're looking for a fast-paced, action-packed story, this might not be for you. The slow-burn romance requires patience, but I found it ultimately rewarding. ### Final Verdict "Deep Breath" is a delightful read for anyone seeking a sweet, low-angst yaoi romance. The well-developed characters, palpable chemistry, and focus on genuine emotional connection make it a truly satisfying experience. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming and calming story that will leave you with a smile.
