Description

It has been ten years since The Demon Lord Kranos declaring war against all the humanity. Against the powerful army of Kranos, at the brink of it’s own destruction, The kingdom decided to use The Church secret summoning ritual to call upon heroes. I was selected as it’s priest (healer) as a leftover party member in the Tōdō naotsugu’s party, the sacred hero party. Inside it there are already two core member, a magician and a swordsman. But then I notice something, even though we were the first line of defense against the demon lord army, we don’t have any ability to fight. Is it possible for me to fight against the demon lord army and leveling up the hero party at the same time!?

Darenidemo Dekiru Kage Kara Tasukeru Maō Tōbatsu Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Darenidemo Dekiru Kage Kara Tasukeru Maō Tōbatsu "Darenidemo Dekiru Kage Kara Tasukeru Maō Tōbatsu" (which I'm just going to call "Helping From the Shadows" for brevity) presents an interesting take on the fantasy genre. It's a story of flawed characters, hidden agendas, and the messy reality of saving the world, and I find that quite refreshing. While it has some issues, the novel's strengths make it a worthwhile read for fans looking for something a little different. ### First Impressions Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: a "mob protagonist" priest guiding a hero's party from the shadows. The idea of a world-weary, unconventional priest tasked with babysitting a group of less-than-ideal heroes had immediate appeal. The early chapters deliver on this promise, establishing a dynamic where the priest's pragmatism clashes hilariously with the hero party's naivete. ### What Works Well The priest is definitely the star of the show. His cynical outlook, coupled with his willingness to do whatever it takes to accomplish his mission, makes him incredibly entertaining. He's not your typical saintly clergyman; he's more likely to curse his god than offer a prayer. This subversion of expectations is a major highlight. I also appreciated how the story explores the complexities of its characters. They're not perfect paragons of virtue, but flawed individuals struggling to navigate a dangerous world. This adds a layer of depth that elevates the narrative beyond a simple hero's journey. The series also seems to improve with each volume, which is a great sign! ### Areas of Concern While I enjoyed the overall premise, I did find some aspects lacking. The hero, while intended to be flawed, can come across as frustratingly naive and slow to develop. I also felt that some of the side characters could use more fleshing out. Their backstories are hinted at, but not always explored in sufficient detail. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some readers have pointed out a plot twist regarding the hero's gender. Apparently, this reveal doesn't lead to significant plot developments or character exploration, which is a missed opportunity. ### Final Verdict Despite its shortcomings, "Helping From the Shadows" is an enjoyable read. The unconventional protagonist, the deconstruction of genre tropes, and the focus on flawed characters make it stand out from the crowd. If you're looking for a lighthearted fantasy with a cynical edge, I'd recommend giving this novel a try. Just be prepared for some frustrating moments with the hero and a desire for more in-depth character development.
