Description

Zhang Xiaofang transmigrated into a novel as a little village girl, the ex-wife of the male lead in a period drama. In the novel, the male lead was a young, handsome educated youth sent down to the countryside. He was so handsome that the foolish daughter of the village head knocked him out and dragged him home. The male lead didn’t want to marry her, but the village Communist Party secretary[1] promised him a ticket back to the city for university if he did. When the male lead refused, the Secretary’s family conspired to trap him and later forced him into marriage. After they had a child, the village Communist Party Secretary kept delaying his return, claiming the child was too young and needed his father around. This went on until the reintroduction of college entrance exams (1977), and even then, they refused to let him leave—eventually forcing the male lead’s parents to come and demand his release. Zhang Xiaofang nearly burst a blood vessel reading about it. She had never encountered such shameless cannon-fodder characters. Worse, the Secretary’s daughter shared her name… It was so disgusting she almost passed out from rage. After going on a rant, Zhang Xiaofang woke up in the novel—as the village Communist Party secretary’s daughter, right at the moment she was dragging the male lead home…

Back to the 70s as the Male Lead’s Ex-Wife Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Back to the 70s as the Male Lead’s Ex-Wife "Back to the 70s as the Male Lead’s Ex-Wife" sounded like a fun premise, and after diving in, I can definitely see why it has its fans. It’s a lighthearted story with a focus on humor and the developing relationship between the leads, offering a nice escape. ### First Impressions The initial setup is intriguing: our female lead (FL) finds herself in the body of the male lead's (ML) ex-wife in a 1970s setting. The challenge of navigating this new life, especially given the original character's less-than-stellar reputation, immediately grabbed my attention. I was curious to see how the FL would handle the situation and win over the ML. ### What Works Well The comedic elements are a major draw. The interactions between the FL and ML are genuinely funny, and the slice-of-life aspect of the story adds to its charm. It's the kind of novel you can pick up when you need a mood boost. The FL's clever use of the original body's traits to her advantage is also a highlight. She manages to cleverly disguise her actions, leading to satisfying outcomes. The dynamic between the leads is well-crafted, allowing their relationship to evolve organically. I appreciated how the ML gradually warms up to the FL as he notices the changes in her behavior. ### Areas of Concern One potential issue some readers might have is the perceived lack of depth. It's not a story that delves into complex themes or intricate plotlines. Also, some might find the FL's attempts to mimic the original body's behavior unconvincing or even irritating. This is subjective, of course, and depends on individual preferences. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning There are some minor spoilers regarding the original ex-wife's personality and the FL's methods of subverting those traits. Specifically, the original was portrayed as cruel and self-absorbed, while the FL uses those traits as a disguise to achieve her goals. The ML gradually notices these changes and begins to develop feelings for her. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Back to the 70s as the Male Lead’s Ex-Wife" is a fun, easy-going read that's perfect for anyone looking for a lighthearted and comedic story. While it might not appeal to those seeking a serious or complex narrative, its charm and humor make it a worthwhile choice for fans of slice-of-life and romance. I found it to be an enjoyable and entertaining experience.
