Description

A side story in two volumes featuring Soichi, the son of the head of the Motohashi Group, who has been unable to be alone for even a moment due to the trauma of being attacked by an enemy five years ago. At the same time, his repressed fetishes were also exposed. He would relieve his s*xual urges in front of his silent bodyguard, Kato, but one day, instead of using toys, he begged Kato himself. Kato obeyed the order and embraced Soichi. When Soichi felt an intense pleasure he had never experienced before and begged for more, Kato refused, saying, “If I have to embrace someone, I’d rather it be a woman.” It includes follow-up extras of Yamada and Michihiko from “Smiling at the Moon.”

Ashen Moon Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Ashen Moon "Ashen Moon" is a web novel that's left me with a lot to unpack. It's a dark and disturbing story, delving into the underbelly of the yakuza world with a focus on themes of love, obsession, and the brutal consequences of power. It's not a light read by any means, and it's certainly not for the faint of heart. ### First Impressions From the outset, I was struck by the intensity of the narrative. The story wastes no time in throwing you into a world of violence and moral ambiguity. I found myself immediately invested in Soichi and Kato's complex relationship, even though it's clear from the beginning that their journey would be fraught with pain. The initial premise is intriguing, setting the stage for a deep dive into their motivations and desires. ### What Works Well The strongest aspect of "Ashen Moon" is its exploration of the characters' inner turmoil. Soichi's desperate yearning for Kato's affection is palpable, and I found myself sympathizing with his struggles, even when his actions were questionable. The author does a commendable job of portraying the toxic dynamics of their relationship, highlighting the push and pull between desire and rejection. The writing style is powerful and evocative, creating a vivid and immersive reading experience. I was particularly drawn to the author's willingness to tackle complex themes such as identity, sexuality, and the devastating effects of trauma. ### Areas of Concern While I appreciate the novel's ambition, I do have some reservations. The sheer amount of violence and abuse can be overwhelming and, at times, feels gratuitous. I questioned whether certain plot points were necessary to advance the story or simply served to shock the reader. Additionally, I felt that Kato's character development could have been more nuanced. While his internal conflict is evident, I struggled to fully understand his motivations and felt that his feelings for Soichi were not always convincingly portrayed. The ending, while impactful, left me feeling somewhat dissatisfied and unsure of the characters' futures. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several readers have pointed out that the novel contains graphic depictions of sexual assault, g**ital mutilation, and psychological trauma. These elements are central to the plot but may be triggering for some readers. Be advised that the ending involves significant character changes and may not provide a sense of closure. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Ashen Moon" is a challenging but ultimately thought-provoking read. It's a story that will stay with you long after you've finished it, prompting you to question the nature of love, power, and the human capacity for both cruelty and resilience. While the dark themes and intense content may not appeal to everyone, I believe that those who are willing to confront these difficult subjects will find "Ashen Moon" to be a compelling and unforgettable experience. I'm giving it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
